So I guess I never updated/posted my results in this thread. I bought BOOF-M3 's ZCP suspension and replaced all the existing HW w/ new parts from getbmwparts. HW was like $400. The suspension from Mark was a killer deal at like $600 or 650 if I recall...labor (I just didn't have time) was pricey at about $8 or 900 through my indy shop and included a good alignment. Once installed, I had Alex at AlpineMSS code the suspension to work properly w/ the EDC, something many people don't bother to do. Let me tell you - maybe it was the newer shocks but even in comfort, the car felt tighter. Sport was like the old Sport + setting and the new Sport+ was really aggressive without riding like crap. It was perfect, I loved it. Performance increase was dramatic. Was it pricey, yes but I would do it over again in a heartbeat. If you're NOT looking to go too wild on the suspension, want a modest drop and want to keep that OEM feel, this is the way to go, imho. Maybe the dinan setup would be the next step, before a full C/O setup, or beyond.

Nice thread. Learned a lot. Does this apply to E93 as well? I want to swap my non ZCP EDC springs to ZCP.

I would imagine the convertibles require stronger dampening to compensate for the extra weight but if you are retaining your EDC from the vert, i don't see it being a large problem.

I'm doing this swap later this month and this thread has been really informative. I was lucky to find E92 ZCP suspension (6MT, CF roof) w/ 25k km on it. It will be going into an E90 (DCT, slicktop). From what I am reading there really is no definitive performance differences between any of the part numbers so E92 to E90 should be fine. FWIW the front springs read X7 on them. Will also be reaching out to Alex to code in the EDC settings!

I'm coming from a set of KW V3 which were fine, but looking for something more road compliant in the city and would like to bring EDC back. Maybe I'll go back to the V3s in the future or try the Dinan setup.

Yep, Alex knew exactly what to do. I can't compare to the KW V3's but overall, it was an improvement from my non-zcp car.

FYI: E82M rear shocks are about 8mm shorter free length than a stock, non-EDC E9xM rear shock and also use a different bumpstop

I'm trying these out on my car right now while I get one of my Sachs adjustable shocks repaired, and they seem to pair well with the ZCP rear springs I am running on my (lightened, already low-option) E90. Ride is very close to stock, maybe just a hair firmer and definitely has a bit better control on rebound than the stock E90 non-EDC shocks

Not a bad option if you want to run ZCP springs on a non-EDC car - use the 1M stock dampers

Rear shock PN: 33527845548
Rear bumpstop PN: 33537845437

Uses the same upper mounts

I am also coming from KW V3. Mainly the front strut damper hex is stripped when I bought it. Also the front is stiff as hell for road rides.

Debating if I should go with EDC or non-EDC. My E92M has EDC and EDC delete. But finding a good set of used EDC is like a treasure hunt now. Going non-EDC with B12 seems like a faster route. (the front tires are being chewed up by the road+stiff suspension).

Another reason not sure if I should go back to EDC is some OE parts got swapped out during KW instillation by previous ownership. Front sway is aftermarket and I can imaging some of the connection parts are no OE anymore.

My plan for the car is mainly DD around the year and a few track days during the summer. Any suggestion?

I’m happy with the dual nature of the OE ZCP hardware but in your case, a quality dual purpose coilover might be best. Low mile used shocks are hard to come by indeed, and new OE replacements are priced like quality coilovers.

Been following the idea of the zcp retrofit before I owned a e90 m3. I have a 2008 EDC E90 M3 with the ZCP retrofit. Bought a low mileage e90 zcp strut setup from a forum member and did the entire setup:

ZCP struts
Dinan springs
E36 bumpstops
Shaved top mounts

The car handles pretty good, but I wasn't able to get zcp edc coding done. This was the last step and I hit a roadblock. Took it to EAS and they had no idea how to. Can someone point me in the right direction? Looking for someone to help me code my non zcp to zcp. I am in SoCal Orange County.

Alex of Alpine MSS did mine; Knew exactly what to do. It was a significant difference, especially in sport + mode.

Technically, its only Komfort, Normal, Sport for EDC.

ZCP EDC sport mode = dynamic
non-ZCP EDC sport mode= static 75% stiffness.

yep, that's right; sorry used to the F10 nomenclature now.

I don't recall the details but even before having the coding done, the car just felt sharper and slightly more stiff. I had a fairly low mile ZCP suspension and my car had 72k on it, so maybe it could be attributed to a freshening of suspension. I also changed a lot of hardware while I was at it.

I am up next at AutoTalent in LA.

Bought everything new. ZCP shocks, struts, and springs have to come from Germany...so it is a 2-3 week wait. $3k-4k in hardware then add labor. Around the same price as new EDC coilovers.

The coding is described here on the forum, but I will go with Alpine Alex to work his magic. Also getting the DCT GTS Tune.

New hypersilver OEM 359M ZCP rims (ceramic coated) and MPS4S Tires will be glorious with Interlagos Blue e90 on Fox Red. MPS4S tires are backordered for weeks/months too.

Teaching a 190k mile old M3 dog new ZCP tricks.

Then a 4 Stage Paint Correction/PPF/Ceramic Coating makeover and carbon fiber fest to close out the year.

Cheers

Figured I'd add some info to this thread and maybe the OP could update the 1st post. The previous owner of my M3 sedan w/H&R sport springs kindly provided the original ZCP springs in the trunk.

The fronts are X8 and rears are X6. Looked all over for an actual part# but no luck. My E90 M3 has DCT, sunroof, ZCP, and Nav.
