Very different experience I would say. E92 M3 is more of a sleeper with authority where the 911 is and feels genuinely fast. I actually liked the sound for what it is, although I like that 3.8 scream more from 991.1 with PSE. Difficult car to drive with traction control off though I would imagine, being an RR layout.

Depends on the kind of roads & traffic in which this car would be mostly driven!
- would go for 991.2 PDK if mostly driving in city with moderate traffic - turbo torque is fun and need not be revved out all the time! - e92 M3 would be the choice if driving on open roads with minimal traffic - need to rev out to be fun! My current driving is mostly open country roads with minimal traffic. Will switch to some turbo car if my driving situation changes! |

I test drove a 7speed 991.2 C2S with most of the GTS's standard perforamnce options, recently. Drove my E90M there. Was immediately clear to me, getting back into my car, that despite all the immense performance advantages the 911 has, I prefer my car and would rather have the E90M even if they were the same price.
It's my favorite turbo engine I've driven, bar none, from a driver engagement perspective (AMG motors are my favorites for BLAAAHHHRGG POWERRRR). Everything the S55 does well, the new turbo 3.0 in the 911 does just that little bit better, even ignoring the sound, which is also great

E90/92M engine is something else. Never drove a regular 911 but have driven the GT4 which has the 991.2 engine but without the extra 40-50 HP in the 911. The S65 is more impressive.
Yes, the M3 is heavy and it’s not as point and shoot as the cayman is; the more the driver skill, the greater the return on the M3 on the track. |

- Car to Car the 991.2 kills the E92 M3
- Engine to Engine E92 All Day that S65 is crack city once you go no cats - Both amazing machines - GT3 4.0 991.2 is the marriage of both the 991.2 C2 + E92 M3 #NEEDAGT3 |

Yeah I really need to try one of the manual 4.0 cars now that they're available in the peasant-grade regular old GT3. Maybe that's the 911 that I will finally click with

I suppose it would also take that, however, I am not spending 200k on a car and then proceed to be surprised it is actually better

Both great, but for diff purpose.
I would pick the E92 due to manual and V8. Better driving engagement with high rev NA V8 fun. 991.2 is super refined, but a bit boring with the PDK. Almost too quiet and refined. Def more GT than sports car. All you hear inside the cabin is swooshing air, even w the PSE. Outside just exhaust burble and farts. Was a letdown. I had a 991.1 GTS PDK, if it was a manual I would still own it. 991.2 manual was excellent, why not consider it?

This is the best thing about the E90 M3. One of the fastest cars (with a little modding ) that you can drive to the track in while comfortably carrying much more than an extra set of track wheels/tires...all inside the car!
