1/4 mile time for ESS VT1-535
I'm considering putting an order in for a new M3 and the first thing I want to do is supercharge it after the break in. I've always been a fan of the M3. HOWEVER, I'll be completely honest throughout this post. I've seen videos of JB3 335i's kill a stock M3 and there is a video out there of a tuned C63 being quicker than a supercharged M3. Then again I've seen a video of a supercharged M3 being quicker than a highly modified GTR.
Apparently JB3 335i's can run high 11's if I'm not mistaken. How would a ESS VT1-535 compare? As amazing of a machine the M3 may be and with all due respect, it wouldn't make sense to me to spend 72k plus another 10k for a stage 1 supercharger, only to be slower than a 335i who bought his car and tuned it at a fraction of the price. Yes, I currently drive an AMG. No, straight line performance isn't my main priority. With the M3 being so well balanced, especially around a track, it's the perfect vehicle to take to next level and be quick in a straight line and around a track. Please serious reply's only! |

If I were you, and I wanted that power your looking for;
I would just go for a Stage 2+ Gintani Setup. That would cure your want for the power. Stage 1 is not that fast to be honest. It can be comparable with a freak stock+boltons M3 (DCT). What I mean there, a 6MT VT1 vs a DCT all boltons+factory freak would be a good race. |

You reference tons of videos which can't always be believed. I once saw a video of a guy with a 14" dong. Oh, sorry...you said serious replies only. |

The below screen shot is the results of my car running from 60 -130mph on just the supercharger and exhaust. 9.06 seconds! Please show me a bolt on DCT that comes even close to that. One of the fastest, if not the fastest bolt on DCT car that I know of ran a best of 10.71.

I don't think this is the best car choice for you given your goals and desires. A vette, cts-v, or amg would be much better suited in my opinion.

If fast 1/4mi times is your ultimate goal, then the m3 may not be the best choice for you. The m3 is more of a backroad/track car as opposed to a 1/4mi muscle car. While the m3 may put down a respectable 1/4mi time, it definitely is not its strongest point.
You can probably pickup a new Mustang and S/C for less money. Also, a Z06 may be a good choice. -SZ |

if drag racing is your interest, look elsewhere. I ditched an E63 AMG for the E90 M3, sacrificing raw power and 1/4 mi time for handling and feel. If you want to drag, buy a muscle car. Just sayin/. +1 for vette.

Personally as a VT1 owner myself... I don't know of a full bolt-ons E9xM3 that can keep up with a SC one.
as for your quarter mile interests... i'm practically in the same boat. i wouldn't mind seeing what it can do quarter mile but i just don't have that time right now. With the proper driver, i don't think there should be a problem with mid 11's. but that's just a guess .

Why judge the car by such a narrow parameter?
The 1/4 mile is where not it's strongest attribute to be sure. But that's kind of like marrying a supermodel to have her cook for you. Sure she can do it, but there's a lot more she can do for you that will put the neighbourhood girls to shame! If you want a cook - get a cook, they're a dime a dozen |

A friend did a 11,9 quarter mile 122 MPH trap in a DCT VT2 575, however it was at 4000 ft and the boost was only 5lbs, which is close to a VT 1 535s 4,5lbs boost
This time at sea level would have been in low 11's http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=413994 |

one of the fastest supercharged E9X M's is running like 11.4 at 130+mph with Gintani setup.. and the fastest 335's are now using meth + nitrous and running low 11's and 120-130mph traps.. both setups easily capable of 7 sec 60-130mph runs...

I totally agree with you
topic doesn't state 1/4 time with Gintani xxx kit if the OP was looking for the Biggest HP kit he wouldnt have referred to the VT1 535 kit ... In all fairness the thread should be respected and not Violated !! |

Learn to speak without insulting people. It MIGHT make you look classy for once
The OP is obviously someone that is searching for a lot of power and to be faster than some other fast cars. So, as MY OPINION I think he should go with the more powerful option. Stop acting like I came in here and bashed ESS. |

Dude ...... Please , don't insult my intelligence and stop making yourself look like a fool , like I said before if he was looking for the most power he obviously wouldn't have referred to the VT1 kit and personaly I could care less which kit he chooses but don't try wiping shit away cause it still stinks !
I call this undercurve bashing ..... |
