Scratched CIC Screen Repair?

My CIC screen has quite a bit of scratches that are bugging me. Has anyone tried Meguiar's PlastX to get rid of the scratches and restore the screen?

I used a 3 step polish from Novus I got on Ebay and then covered with a screen protector from NuShield which was a perfect fit. I did remove the screen from the car to do it which is very easy. End result is better than factory imo, and has lasted 8 months with no problems at all.

Edit- BTW, for the best results, polish of ALL of the factory anti-glare coating.

I did this as well and even after 4 years it still looked perfect. Previous owner of my car used to keep their sunglasses in there so of course there were a ton of scratches on the blue AR coating. Moron.

It's a bit time consuming but I wouldn't say it's that difficult. You can also just buy a replacement used screen on eBay if you want the 5 minute solution.

Thanks for the responses. Seems like there's a ton of solid reviews for Novus which I think I may be better off with.

I had scratches on my iDrive screen too. Depending on how bad they are, you may be able to just apply a matte screen protector. I did that (without polishing off the AR coating) and the matte screen protector made 95% of the scratches invisible. Only the really bad ones were slightly visible from certain angles under direct lighting. Needs to be a matte screen protector tho.

Keep in mind what you're doing is removing the anti glare coating.

Thanks. The plan is to install a new glare coating once the original has been removed.

I still haven't found the time to tackle this, but once I do, I'll report back with my results.

Weird TV experience when my kids scratched the TV.
I used a but of Vaseline that filled the scratch and has the same optical quality as the screen...scratch just disappeared....

Just today noticed a scratch in my screen. Argh.

Is the consensus to polish down. Make me nervous - never polished an lcd screen...

I used PlastX to polish out my screen. Took a lot of elbow grease but it came out well. If you're OCD like me make sure to remove the screen from the dash so you can polish all the way to the corners.

I’m just about to do a CCC to CIC retrofit and the ‘new’ screen had fine scratching on the AR coating. Rather than using any of the polishes mentioned in this thread, I used sunscreen. Yes, sunscreen as in what you apply to your skin to prevent sunburn. No hard rubbing or polishing required. Just smear the lotion over the screen and let sit for a while. The stuff dissolves the coating and just you just simply wipe away.

How do you guys scratch the screen? I don't think I've ever touched it.

Previous owner liked to use the area in front of the screen to store his keys or phone.

Most likely the same with mine. All the scratching on my screen was on the lower edge ... the most visible part too!

Well at least you know they drove it like a grandma... nothing I'd put up there would stay very long.

I used the novus polish on one of my CIC screens. It worked but it took a lot of elbow grease. To be honest, I was not really happy with the lack of anti-glare coating after it was done. I ended up buying an early CIC screen off ebay with the plastic cover over it so it didn't have scratches. I think it was like 2009 and 2010 model years. For about $120 it was worth it to me.
