Anything qualified early this year. I bought springs. The rebate srot of pushed me over the line, as they are more expensive than most.

I agree that that signing it would have been the more professional thing to do.

Are you sure it was anything? I thought certain items such as BBKs and stroker engines were excluded, but I don't recall clearly.

Did you get the full exhaust with the mid-pipes?

Anyway, did you still not get the email? If not, I'd definitely call.

I got their random "dinan news letter" but not the one you guys mentioned. I will call monday. The exact amount they owe me is $798 US. Must be more than they can afford to give out. I will call Monday as I assume they aren't open tomorrow. I will try anyways. Pathetic.

That is a considerable amount. Not the kind of thing you'd write off. I'd call for sure. Good luck and let us know what you find out.

You're call - they only owe me $135. Since they have acknowledged a problem, I'm going to give tham a couple more weeks.

it doesn't look like things are going well at Dinan ... Got a postcard not too long ago that you can even bring your Mercedes and they will work on it ...

It's more likely that they don't have any cash to invest in a CD account.

So it looks like I am going to be out a lot because of these guys. I wonder what action we can take. They are still selling products I assume?

Letter to Dinan

Here is the letter I am mailing today:

Steve Dinan
DINAN
865 Jarvis Dr.
Morgan Hill, CA 95037

Re: Non receipt of rebate

Dear Mr. Dinan,

I am writing you because, despite repeated email exchanges with your company in the past few months with promises of action, I have still not seen any.

Early this year you offered a 15% rebate on products purchased (originally through 4/30/09, later extended, I believe). I had been on the fence about your Stage 1 suspension for my ’08 M3 Coupe, but this offer was enough to entice me, and I purchased the springs in February, finally receiving them in April, installing them April 28. At the very beginning of May I sent in the rebate form and supporting documentation.

After waiting patiently for 12 weeks as suggested on the form with no communication from you, I sent an inquiry to dinanrebates@dinancars and received on 8/1 confirmation that my form had been received and was being processed. “The August checks are being cut and you should receive yours shortly.” On 8/17 I was told, “We appreciate your response and your check will be there shortly.” On 9/2, after no further communication I was told, “We apologize for our delay but according to the system your check, #33956 for $134.85 was sent on August 31st. Please confirm receipt of your check.” Needless to say, that promised check was never received.

Almost 3 weeks ago, on 9/26, I received an email from the “new manager at the fulfillment center processing rebates for Dinan”, “I guarantee that all checks will be sent. I am personally going to follow each of the e-mail requests myself.” All this was written in the first person but the message was not signed nor any contact information given.

So, it has now been 23 weeks and I am still waiting for the rebate. And I am not alone; I have lots of company on the BMW forums in which I am active. It seems your reputation, which has been generally positive over the many years you have been in business, is going downhill fast. While I know these are challenging times for many businesses, to lie to customers rather than being forthright is never good.

I and my fellow BMW enthusiasts would appreciate some action on this.

Best regards,

Greg Williams

I think it is a good letter. Though I am not directly affected, because I bought my dinan parts after the rebate and during the instant dicount, I would think twice about even buying all the Dinan parts I did had I known this is how they treat customers.
