Looking for a very specific exhaust

Does anyone know if an exhaust fits these requirements? I've dug through the stickied exhaust overview thread (many times) but I don't think it does.
  • Significant weight savings
  • Stainless, NOT Titanium
  • Quiet (close to stock)
  • Adjustable length tips (to look perfect with a diffuser)
  • Nice aesthetics from the rear (i.e. greatly improved over the ugly rear view of the OEM exhaust can)
I am planning on adding a custom exhaust bypass system but doing it to the pig heavy stock exhaust system seems like throwing good money after bad.

Let me just ask..

You want an exhaust, yet you don't want any power gains or loudness added?

Eisenmann Sport with Fabspeed x-pipe and HFCs?? Don't know how much weight is saved, just a little since both are SS but you delete a set of cats and I think the Eis is a bit lighter than stock. It's definitely louder than stock, but it's not loud.

No adjustable tips though

I think Eisenmann Sport is the closest you'll get to what you want.

I personally wanted down pipes that met your criteria of being quiet as they will give you more performance gains that the rest of the exhaust system but I found the AA pipes with stock exhaust was quite a bit louder and had lots of resonance between 2500RPM - 3000RPM and again around 4000RPM (not the best source of drone for daily driving). I don't actually think the AA pipes introduce the resonance, I sometimes hear it very slightly with the stock system when it is cold, hence I think the AA pipes just don't attenuate the resonance nearly as much as the stock system.

Also, because the M3 lets quite a bit of exhaust noise into the cabin, especially from the down pipe area, meaning any exhaust change gives the impression to the driver it is quite a bit louder, whereas from the outside the change is not so dramatic.

I said nothing about power gains.

I want a system comparable or slightly louder than stock.

The reason is because I want to get a custom bypasss system with a valve/motor. Do you know what this is? It offers large sound, flow and power improvements but the valve can be shut bringing it back to flowing through what ever exhaust you have on the car.

I agree, well said. I have AA xpipe and HFC and thre is alot more cabin noise introduced and some bibration into the cabin as well. Weird vibrating gas pedal and 2 distict RPMS

The Eisenmanm Sport is still not stock quiet, I get a good rumble on acceleration to about 3500 RPM then it quiets right down

I dont think you are going to find what you want that is both light and quiet. The two contradict themselves.

I am considering taking out the Xpipe and HFC, we'll see. It is alot more than I expected for volume in the cabin and the resonances too.

Looking forward to what you find. I have the exact same criteria. I'm very happy with cutouts on the stock system, but the OEM exhaust is ugly and heavy.

You want weight savings but still maintain stainless steel? The stock is made of steel so the only weight savings you would get is because of smaller mufflers.

jml - awesome picture!!

[*]Stainless, NOT Titanium

Why not Ti? is it because of price?

Just get a Dinan Exhaust or Borla. They seem to fit your needs.

Its as close as it gets to his criteria. Plus, the fitment on those is perfect, so no real need for adjustable tips.

Any pics with a rear diffuser? Some systems look OK with no diffuser but then are too short with a diffuser. Thanks.
