I haven't really looked into the CIC controller well enough (I have CCC). Does the controller trim come off like the CCC?
Thanks, dude. That is encouraging to hear. Once I figured out my technique with the little panels, it made it a lot easier. Your advice and encouragement has been much appreciated throughout!

My plan of attack is to spray glue the entire top surface, secure the upholstery over the entire top surface, then attach it to the outside edges. At that point, I think I can take my time cutting out the inside areas and securing them one by one.

I was able to get the black trim off that surrounds the CIC controller. Unfortunately, I broke a lot of the clips in the process. My bigger issue is whether wrapping over what is left of the plastic retention piece will make it difficult to slide the trim and controller in there. It is certainly going to be a tighter fit.

Thanks, dude! Sorry for the slow reply! I didn't realize I never posted up until I went back to this thread. It's all about the anticipation, right?

After this, I am going to tackle some DIY tri-stitch leather brake and shift boots. I'm all about the DIY interior, apparently.

How about the interior door handle? That rubberized coating is falling off and not sure what to do about it.

My steering wheel trim is peeling really bad. I am not confident on wrapping it by myself. Is there any other solution other than buying a new trim?

Sounds like you have nothing to loose. Wrap it! If you don't like it then just buy new.

Unless you strip/prep it really well and really good with a can of paint, wrapping will have better results.

Did you have to strip it before wrapping it?

Also how is the glue holding with you? How were you able to do the edges with glue?

Thanks

You don't.

You need to get a sheet bigger than the trim, use a hair dryer and heat up the wrap so you can stretch it slightly. When you're done covering the desired areas, you trim the edge longer than the edge of the item you're wrapping and tuck it into place.

No, you want 3M brand. No M2 racing or whatever it is.

This stuff will last and hold up much better than that fake stuff.

Use the link provided by ILSMKU. DiNoc is good stuff. I've never used it in my M3, but in previous rides, it did the trick.

This.
You would use a hair drier for vinyl wraps and definitely use 3m brand as mentioned. For the sake of the thread, we used a fabric (which is a very close match to the oem carbon leather trim) which you don't need a hair drier but, you need glue. The fabric is much more difficult then the vinyl imo.

I agree with Amirsm3 on the 3m di-noc in the m3 but only if you have the carbon leather trim (it doesn't match).

There is a TON of 3m vinyls.. you could also wrap it in a flat black so it looks oem

I do have carbon fiber trim...matching is an important factor. I will try it out and see.
