Any idea what transmission they used?
Boy if this became standardized and available there would be a pretty good market for this conversion.

GM sells crate engines with or without transmissions:

LT1 (non-SC) can be had with the Tremec T56 or their in-house 8L90-E 8-speed automatic. LT4 is only available with the above 8-speed, but it's actually a pretty good auto trans. GM has said their performance target was the Porsche PDK.

Jegs currently has the LT4 (dry-sump) w/o transmission for $14k:

With 6 speed, ECU, and other accessories. It gets up to $23K.

Still an interesting option. Would like to understand all of the parts required and other costs.

Here's a used LT1:

Super cool! I've got a special place in my heart for the LS (I guess LT now? I think of C4 Corvettes when I hear LT1). I would love to see a dyno graph overlay of the LT4 and a supercharged S65. That torque has got to be phenomenal.

And dparm I am completely floored that you can get this reliable power for $14k?? I get it, you still need accessories and all, but wow. Makes me want to pick up another 4th gen F-body and go to town.

Someone with connections over there needs to give them a call and see what would be needed to make this commercially viable. I don't want to sell my car but I have 133,000 miles and at some point it will become an oil burner.

That actually made my day watching this vid. This is an amazing option for down the road when the s65 is just worn out. Based on GM history the LT4 should be around for a long time.

It amazing the ease with which he could spin the tires. It's funny his comment even with the supercharger he felt the s65 was gutless. His opinion.

Yep, it's cool. I guess this is the next step after living with the S65 + Harrop SC comes E92M3 + Z06 SC LT4 Engine.

Considering Chevy makes E-ROD kits, this would be a cool swap since it could be potentionally CARB legal since it comes with an EO number.

https://www.gmperformancemotor.com/parts/19417727.html

E-ROD LT4 6.2L SC WET SUMP SYSTEM
• CARB EO#: D-126-51 (8-Speed)
• Horsepower: 650 @ 6,400 rpm
• Torque: 650 lb.-ft. @ 3,600 rpm
The latest addition to the E-Rod family of 50-state street legal engines is the LT4, the supercharged big brother of the direct injected LT1, delivering a smooth 650 horsepower. Original equipment in the ZO6 Corvette and the ZL1 Camaro, the LT4 E-ROD system includes all of the components needed to install in your hot rod.
