Not NT01s, but TireRack has 275/35/18 RS4s for $226 a piece right now.

Pros
I have four days on these tires, and I should be able to get another two days out of them. I can't get more than four days out of NT-01s, RE71Rs or R7s. I've run Conti and Pirelli DH scrubs, but it's hard to compare those to a new tire.

Cons
The RS-4s felt good for a lap or two then started to get greasy with both understeer and oversteer. I couldn't help hooning it out of second gear corners at COTA as the rear would easily break free. I decided half way through the weekend that I would not buy them again as I'm spoiled with running tires with more grip.

Overall
Despite feeling much less grip, my lap times didn't suffer as much as I would have thought at both MSR and COTA. I was running close to PBs at both. That said, the temps were cool so that might have accounted for faster times.

Final Verdict
The other tires cost $250-$350 per day if they last four days. RS-4s cost $150 per day at 6 days. That's close to half the cost of the other options. They get greasy after 1-2 hot laps and need a cool down lap. The RS-4s might be best bang for the buck if you can stop chasing lap times and enjoy the experience.
Update: I now have a total of 9 track days out of this set - 2 were in the wet. I could probably get another day or two out of them, but they are starting to slightly chunk. My lap times are still close to PBs. These tires will not die! I did flip them on the rim after 4 days.

Again, I can only get 4 dry days out of NT-01s, RE71Rs, and R7s. I really think these are the best bang for the buck HPDE tire. NT-01s might be up to one second faster.

I have to say that I'm itching for a stickier tire, but IMHO these are much better bang for the buck than NT-01s. It will be interesting to see how much faster I am on stickier tires. I'm looking for DHs or BFG R1s next, and I'll post an update after the BMW event in early May.

Cheers,
-Daniel

Simpletire has code NITTO10 for 10% off. Use a cash back portal as well for more

Ebates has 3% cash back with them. If you don't have an account there: https://go.ebat.es/yOi1FhkWNV

Yes, no downsides noticed, unless you're driving in the rain. But it's crap in the rain even when running the proper direction of tread.

Sales tax

So some of these online retailers are charging sales tax. Its up to the consumer to find the ones that are not. Just ran in to this issue with the NITTO NT01 set I just got. Summit matched the price of the other seller and didn't have to pay the sales tax. Nv to Az = no tax. Happy shopping.

depending on alignment settings, you can rotate them (not flip them) and have the insides and outsides wear at similar rates. this can also depend on the track you're at. i have been able to rotate/place these on the car based on how my car wears tires at a particular track, and have all four start to cord at the same time.

I just pulled the trigger on 4 Toyo Proxes RRs 285/30/18 for $1015 at Simpletire.com. I thought I'd share this good deal.

I've been meaning to try these for years. I'll report back.

Have you looked at the 595 RS-RR or Rival S/1.5? The 595s seem to be well-liked for their value, but aren't the fastest tire in their class. The Rival is a 200-cheater, as I understand it.

I've read a few threads, but I haven't really considered either. How much is the Rival in 275 or 285?

I just went through a set of Pirelli scrubs in one weekend. 1-2 seconds faster and so confidence inspiring carrying more speed through turns and late braking with minimal ABS activation.

I just bought a set of Toyo RRs. I still want to try the BFG R1s, but I can't find them for under $1350 which is purple crack territory.

Yup, I've run 4 DE's on my RS4's now and they've been solid, and were used as DD tires on another car before I bought them.
They will probably do maybe an Autocross coming up and then be done, they're just starting to chunk a little. I'm tempted to buy the NT01's, but for the price and my still novice level experience I'm gonna repeat buy the RS4's I think, too good a value until I feel I need to step up.

I believe the Rivals are about the same price as the RE-71R in that size. The new 1.5 variant is more; it supposedly has revised construction for better steering response, though I'm skeptical it's worth an extra $50 per tire.

umm FYI Nitto NT01 are 20% off at simpletire now! https://www.simpletire.com/catalog?s...&query=catalog

I might order a spare set to hold onto. 20% off is more rare, 10% off being more common. Use ebates for more cashback (3%) - if you don't have an account, referral: https://www.rakuten.com/r/KENYIP2?eeid=28187

What size RS4's? I ran the 265 last year (the 275 was out of stock) and they chucked on me when the weather started getting hot. This year, I'm running the 285's and haven't seen any chunking (although I haven't had any real hot track days yet). Just an FYI, the 275's are no longer available.

265 up front and 285 on the rear. So far, they’re worn pretty evenly for me, but it also hasn’t gotten really Texas hot yet either.

Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercar 3R's are available @ TireRack:

https://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires...omCompare1=yes

275/35/18, these are Goodyear's answer to Michelin's Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires. Grip level slots between NT-01 and Hoosier R7s (about a second faster than NT-01, and a second slower than Hoosiers).

FYI. $276.xx each. Just a bit over $1,100 per set.
