Connor - Let me start by saying that the idea of a GoFundMe for your dream car is crazy. But I won't harp on that as many other members have already voiced similar opinions to mine. Instead, I'd like to offer a little inspiration.

Since I was 15 years old (I'm 23 now), I wanted a white E92 M3. I would set it as my background on my laptop and every time I thought about slacking on studying for my next test it made me think again. I did well in high school and college, but when I graduated I knew the game had just begun. Without getting into too much detail, I identified an ecommerce opportunity that has done very well for me, to the point that last year - just a year after graduating college - I wrote a check for a pristine low-mileage white E92 M3. If you'd like more details on how I got there, I'd be happy to chat offline. The point of this post is not how I did it, but THAT I did it and I'm only 5 years older than you. I'm not trying to brag, I'm attempting to enforce to you that you can have this car in the relatively near future without the help of a GoFundMe.

Work hard, figure out what you love to do and identify opportunities to monetize it, and be self aware.

Go get 'em brother.

Just curious. Did you start an account for maintenance, gas and insurance too? Get yourself a reliable used car for school that you can park anywhere, not worry about door dings or drunk bitches puking in the back etc. I'm 36, married with child and I love my family (and my M), but man what I wouldn't do to be back in college, even though I was driving a shit Saturn made of plastic. You're about to enter the best years of your life and it will have nothing to do with the car you drive.

I don't expect anyone to donate to this since it's pretty crazy but who knows... donations would be cool. This specific m3 used to belong to my dad until he traded it in and moved on to a new car. This is the car I learned to drive manual on and it was a very fun, memorable experience. After seeing this car in my garage every time I go outside and driving it on many occasions I have fallen in love with it. I believe that being able to daily drive an m3 and experience owning it would be a fantastic, very fun experience. I will own an e90 m3 at some point in my life... most likely not now, but eventually. I would be surprised if I actually get donations and they would be more than appreciated.

Edit:

Obviously I understand the this is ridiculous and causes me to seem entitled... that was not my intention. This was supposed to be somewhat of a joke, although my desire to own an e90 m3 isn't a joke.
Why don't u just get a job.

Also there's no need to get that specific car.

Right on. Enjoy life and focus on what matters at this specific point. In my book that does not include begging man.

OP, if youre going to be doing this sorta begging thing, start a donation fund for your college and higher education, not an m3. Priorities man, priorities. Establish yourself 1st, then m3 2nd. Even if you were to miraculously have an m3 donated to you, affording it's upkeep and gas would not be free. Remember that.

Thank you for sharing this. It's inspiring to me, and similar to what I have done in regards to the laptop wallpaper.

Update:

I decided to cancel the fund. I understood from the beginning that the term "long shot" wouldn't even begin to describe it and that it's a bit ridiculous. Like I stated earlier, I am more than okay with putting in hard work to achieve what I want, so I will continue doing what I have been for the last few years, working hard and staying focused.

That's too bad. I think the responders in this thread are ridiculous. It's not like you're telling people you have a fatal disease and asking for money to help with bills, but you're really perfectly healthy and using the money to buy an M3. If you're straight forward with the go-fund me, no one is forcing anyone to donate. I always wondered if complete strangers would actually donate substantial funds to someone for something entirely unnecessary.

I admire the rather unconventional approach, but there's also nothing wrong with buying the M3 the old fashioned way---earning it! I'm sure you'll find a way to get the car you are dreaming of--there's a time and place for everything. Right now isn't the time for you to have an e9x M3. I'll sell you my e92 in a few years, though it may be a bit spartan for your tastes as it has very few options.

You started off better than most by learning to drive on an M3. Be grateful for that.

I learned on my dads 1993 Altima.
