dinan parts

Was wondering if i should assume that getting a dinan performance engine software (9 hp) and underdrive pulley kit (11 hp) would really give me 20hp+.

Also, would it be better to simply get a filter or is a Macht Schnell Intake worth it?

Don't expect any real gains from any intake; pulley as well. Get the one that fits your budget and/or looks the best to you.

Some people swear by the Dinan name. Others like myself feel that it's overpriced. At the end of the day, most intakes just create a pleasant sound that make you feel better about your purchase. It has been mostly proven time and time again that the small gains from an intake or pulley are generally something that you can't feel. As far as a tune, you will find all sorts of differing minds there too. There is plenty of info here on the site regarding everything that you're asking about. Do your due diligence and just do some homework.

I have the Dinan pulley and definitely feel that was noticeable above 4k RPM. The car for sure pulled a bit harder. Is it worth the money? Now that's a different question that I can't answer for you.

If you go the Dinan route be prepared to write a few large checks. I personally think it's worth the coin......as TECH stated, you'll get all kinds of opinions.....do your homework ................Phil

Yeah, I found it hard to believe I beat you to a thread about Dinan. But I agree with you 100%.

What top 5 dinan upgrades do you recommend? One not being the exhaust system

It depends on what you are hoping to gain. Don't forget....Dinan has suspension as well as other parts. So what's your goal?..........Phil

Biggest bang for your buck will be the x-pipe and tune. Then go for intake and pulley

What would the sound and drone increase be if I did those. I made another thread basically saying my gintani sport is near my limit of loud and I'm afraid that though I'll get the best gains, the sound might be to much for me DDing

I have the Dinan Intake, Dinan ECU, and Akrapovic EVO on my zero option 2009 M3 with DCT.

M3: 3704lb + Michelin PS2
414hp + intake 8hp + ECU 9hp + akra evo 24hp = 455hp
295lb-ft + intake 5lb-ft + ECU 8lb-ft + akra evo 25lb-ft = 333lb-ft

C63 AMG: 3957lb + Michelin PSS
451hp
443lb-ft

I've gone up against my friends totally stock 2009 C63 AMG several times and the result was clear, I would get him from a roll or even if he got the jump I would still reel him in the top end.

Have you dynoed your car? Or are you assuming the advertised HP increases are accurate and your adding them up...

If you think that you can feel an increase of ~10 HP compared to 400+ (an increase of 2.5%), you're kidding yourself.

As far as adding up advertised gains, here's my example. I gained ~45 HP from a tune (+20 HP), a full exhaust with HFC (+25 HP), a pulley (+10 HP), and a filter (+10 HP). That doesn't add up.

just adding advertised claims, but i think the claims are resonably accurate, a stock m3 would never take a c63 on the highway let alone dump it by 1-2 cars, the amg still have over 100 more torque too

THIS. dont get the intake...its pointless on our cars. my opinion is that if you really want to keep your warranty go with the dinan parts but if you arent too worried about that then just go with some other brands since they are going to be a much better price. full exhaust, tune, pulley, diff, and filter is about the best bolt on method you could do to really extract as much hp/tq as possible.

So I've decided then on getting test pipes, ess tune, and a pulley. would it be a safe assumption to say I'd be pushing close to 450?
Also, if I do get test pipes, what can I expect in terms of smell, gas/oil usage, and inspections? If any problems arise with warranty, I could always buy a cheap OEM x pipe right?

no comment on the test pipes since i have no experience with them and dont even know what their claims are but very nice choice of bolt ons. 450hp at crank might be a little high for those bolt ons but i guess it could be possible to get there or close enough depending on your baseline. Good luck!

450 CHP is probably a safe assumption provided that you have good plugs and the most recent software. A lot of older cars are making just above 300 WHP stock which means they aren't making 414 CHP.

Smell is going to be subjective but I personally couldn't handle it so I have HFC. Oil usage shouldn't change unless your driving habits do. Gas usage will decrease (+1-2 mpg) provided your driving habits don't change.
