Comfort access - how to check if doors are locked?

This may seem a silly question, but how does one confirm the car is actually locked with comfort access? This weekend I was at Laguna for the IMSA races, so needless to say very loud so I couldn’t hear the doors lock. Of course, whenever I tried the door latches the comfort access would obligingly unlock the door. Short of stashing the key out of range, is there a way to confirm the car is locked?

You can look at the door locks with your eyeballs.

I'd say just try to lock them while looking at your side markers since they light up once if you lock it.

You also can remove the key fob and try and open the doors, is this real life? Also could hire a midget for the weekend and they can have the job of making sure doors are locked from inside the car.

The red light on the mirror will flash when the car is locked and the alarm is on.

I don't think we use the word "midget" anymore as the preferred nomenclature is "little people/person/persons"

That being said I'm biting my tongue with a response to the OPs question.

if your car has an alarm, it should "chirp" when you lock it

Talking

Is this a real question?

As others have pointed out, when the 'clown nose' on the rear view mirror is blinking red, ahem...the car is uhm, locked - am I missing something here though?

Cheers,
Merlin

I tend to go by whats widely socially accepted over whats used in some strange wrestling event.

The Little People Association is trying to abolish the word "midget" if that helps.

I couldn't care less because it's kind of a funny word. Not the people, just the word.

I set my mirrors to fold on lock with bimmercode. If they're folded then my car is locked.

For the folks with dark dark tint this isn't always an option depending on how dark it truly is. But, I always keep an eye on the side markers as the best indicator.

First car I've owned/seen that doesn't have an audible lock notification standard.

The "little person" in the car solution seems like the most efficient method. You also get a 2nd method of security if someone does try to break in the car. That might be extra though? Have to leave the A/c on so may be pricey.

Occasionally I give the hooker stuffed in my trunk some vitamin D and fresh air. While I don’t have any midgets, I guess I can shove her into the cabin at times to make sure my doors are locked?

Then have the hooker and the midget help you find the key. Problem solved.

Totally off topic, just found out the actuator on my driver's door is dead after 13 years. Probably went out months ago and I never realized it but it does mean even though all the doors locked, my driver's side remained ooen. Has done all the things and made all the sounds which indicated it was locked, all the doors locked, headlights flashed, etc..

Kind of a big deal as I usually leave it running when I go into convenience stores after clicking central lock on the remote.

Just something we all should be looking for as these cars age.
