This reminds me of that Burger King commercial. "I have these tiny hands and that Double cheeseburger at BK is going to make them look even tinyer."

you cant be serious? Like others said, thats one of the best things about driving the car. I love how the thick steering wheel feels in my hands. When I first test drove the M thengot back into my 335, I remember thinking how I hated the steering wheel compared to the M3. As far as removing the padding; thats kind of ridiculous no offense

I am absolutely convinced that the stock M3 wheel is too thick, particularly if you have the DCT paddles. It's very difficult to grasp the wheel properly at speed with your thumbs. I find that my forearm muscles fatigue from trying to maintain a grip on the wheel, and, at 6"4", hand size probably isn't an issue.
I've even asked some experienced racers for their opinion and they agreed with me. Doug Mahar at TMS sent me an email recently commenting that "BMW has gone overboard with the thickness of their steering wheels". As for me, I'm looking to buy a thinner aftermarket replacement. |

Have you tried shifting at the red line from 1st gear up to 5th when the car is on D5 or S5? If you did you wouldn't have suggested the steering wheel is too thick. Cause I find myself griping that wheel as if I'm hanging on it with my life and when the shift happen especially from 1st to 2nd and from 2nd to 3rd, the wheel is the only thing that keeps me from hitting the back seat. Love it

It was interesting to me that the boys at Turner Motorsport, who know a little about racing, commented that the wheel is too thick. To each his own! Over & out.... |

....forgot I had this email from EAS:
BMW - Performance Steering Wheel (non LCD) http://www.europeanautosource.com/pr...oducts_id=3002 "This [wheel] is a little less bloated than the M steering wheel, I tend to prefer it over the stock wheel." Unfortunately, I need one for DCT paddles |

Interesting point because I was speaking with my Alpina rep the other day and asked why the B7 has the thinner wheel as opposed to the much thicker sport wheel. He told me that their customers, when asked, actually greatly prefer the thinner wheel. Another interesting thing to note is that the B7's wheel stitching is straight as opposed to standard issue BMW which is herringboned again, for greater comfort.

I absolutely LOVE the steering wheel on the m3. It's been the only car where I enjoy keeping both hands on the wheel, especially when the road curves. My hands are pretty small, too. I'm only 5 ft. tall and pretty petite. |

M3 steering wheel is perfection, get a 335 if you want a thinner wheel.
It's like that for a reason
