285/30/19 on the front
Hey guys my Mich PSS are going to need replacing soon. I am currently running a 275/30/19 front and 295/30/19 rear. Wheels are 19X10 and 19X11 both ET25. I am considering a 285/30/19 front and a 305/30/19 rear. Tires I am considering are the Conti ExtremeContact sport.
My concern is will a 285 fit up front, I personally do feel it will as it is only 10mm wider and will a 305 not rub out back with a ET 25 wheel. Normally I would like to see a ET31-33 out back for a 11" wide wheel with a 305. Slicer you there bro? Dave

Currently I am using 285/40-17 Conti square on 17x10 ET25 and have run 285/35-18 on the same dimension 18's before as well. Drop 5 in aspect ratio for two wheel sizes up and there you are, 285/30-19.
As usual the issue is tire height not width. A 285/30-18 is a very short tire at just under 25", and fits for days. A 285/35-18 works fine width wise, but rubs the back of the fender liner. due to diameter. The 19's should be a bit better because they're a bit shorter in overall diameter than the 17's, which are a full 26" and most of the 19's are 25.8-9" tall. CAmber won't help. There's tons of room to the fender, the issue is the fender liners. The Conti 285/30-19 is .3" wider than my 285/40-17's, and 0.3" shorter (same diameter as the stock 245/40-18's, actually). So you'll be fine I think. Didn't you have tires on these wheels before? CAn't you just go out and look at them and see how they're fitting and see how much room there is, then compare specs? Or is the car already on a lift somewhere? I think the rear might be tight. That's a bigger tire in every dimension and like you say, ET30 would be better, but you're pushing the envelope anyway so who's going to be able to tell you without you trying it out? Nobody, that's who. Do it, for science.

285/30/19 will be a tight fit up front. Will def need a decent about of negative camber. The tire will rub on the fender liner if you're fine with that. It's 10mm wider but, it's also a bit bigger in the overall diameter.

Richbot, no the 275s are on the car I will go look. Thanks I may just stay with the Mich PS4s and do the 275/295 setup again.

Here I am! haha.
I would definitely stick with 275/295 PS4's if it were me. 295 is the widest that will fit with 11 et25 in my experience. I would want 11 et31 +/- for a 305. In the front I have never attempted a 285/30/19 but I am currently running 285/30/18 on 10 et15 without any issues (I also have -3.5 camber).

Yea, now that I think about it the issue isn't going to be the fronts but the rears. I also felt it would be a ET31-33 for a 305 tire. Thanks Dave

285/30/19 with the right offset will clear the fender.
There may be some rubbing at lock, I ran 285/35/18 18x10 et25 with just slight rubbing at lock behind the front wheels, I made some room and it went away. If you are really low, there will be some rubbing at the bumper tap, which can be trimmed off. Goodluck, i'd go for it. For rear, 305/30/19 19x11 et25 will rub unless height is super high and camber arms are changed to give more than factory adjustment negative camber.

The other comment I would add is that I would prefer a 10.5 wide wheel with a 285. 10" is not bad and within the recommended wheel width range for a 285 but I think they would perform better with a 10.5. I will likely experiment with a 10.5 in the future but my coilovers reduce inner clearance so it might be a challenge on my car

A 285 on a 10" wheel is more than supported. In fact TireRack shows measured dimensions are on a 10" wheel. A 9.5" wheel I would agree, that is the minimum recommended wheel width for a 285 tire.

It is acceptable but I think a 10.5 would be better (my opinion is base on my Cup2 Tires which seem to run a little wider than a PSS or other pure street Tires). I also prefer the 295 cup2 on an 11" wheel for the same reason.

There's a kernel of truth in every joke, including stancified stretched tires.
If you can only fit a 23" tall 205 under the car, but you can fit a 9" wheel, the 9" wheel will in general give you better performance than an 8" wheel than a 7" wheel. Sidewall is asked to do less of the work of just keeping the tire shape, you can run lower pressure which puts more rubber on the road...yada Soooo for places where you're limited in tire but not wheel size for some reason, a wider wheel makes the same tire work better, all things being equal until you're in the range of +1-1.5" more wheel width than section width For instance, if I was running in SCCA STU, which IIRC still limits RWD cars to 285 section width but doesn't limit wheel width, I'd try to get an 11 under my 285's. But rim protection is a real thing and curbing wheels sucks ass so I'd stick with a 10 for a street car

ressurecting this thread, did OP ever run the 285/30/19 on the 19x10 et25? i am considering 285/30/19 square on my 19x10 et25 square ZCP wheel setup. curious if there are fitment issues up front.
