Just curious on this. For those on original TAs, which throttle mode do you predominantly run in....normal or sport mode?

110k on '11 and still running OG TA's. I mostly run in standard mode but do flip to sport from time to time.

77 k - original throttle actuators. I just bought the car a couple months ago but I had a pretty long chat with the previous owner who told me they'd not been done.

Not that a couple months means anything but I drive in sport. In 2800 miles I've put it in D twice just out of curiosity.

I believe the previous owner (also a forum member) was meticulous about the car but wasn't shy about participating in spirited driving here and there.

*slowly raises hand* I'm afraid I will jinx myself lol. 118k miles, almost always in normal mode. But, I have only had the car since around 84k miles, so I don't know how often the previous owners used sport mode.

Aren't the cases they are in somewhat sealed or at least the vent faces down?

Wondering if the gears could instead be made of metal like Al or even Brass or any other lite metal???
Then would last for ever....
Then the question would be, would there be any issue with the board itself since the gear are made of metal?

I abuse the throttle at some point every day. My engine bay is always clean. I love this car!

Wow! I'm surprised and glad that some of your units have lasted this long! That's amazing.

The lowest miles that I've seen on units was 21k miles. It was an M6. The dude only had 21k miles and his car went into limp mode and had to replace his units. When we opened up his units to begin the rebuilding process, his circuit board was toast on of the units.

Highest I've seen was approximately 120k miles. So good luck to all of you! It's a shame though that every single unit will have to replaced at one point or the other. They just are not built in a way to outlive the car. So just be ready to replace them sometime in your ownership.

For the most part, our cars are rock solid. So we shouldn't really complain. Every performance car has some weak points. Thankfully, we only have TA's and RB's to deal with.

Just food for thought. Be aware of companies that just replace the MOSFETS. As it clearly says on their description, their work does not guarantee that the unit will work. There are so many components on these units that need to be replaced in order for the unit to function properly and outlive the car. Its a total waste of time to just replace MOSFETS and gears.

I feel bad for ///M owners who send me their units after they have already purchased expensive gears or MOSFETS and wasted so much time but to no avail. Unit works for a few weeks and then fails again. They end up just sending it to us or buying a brand new unit.

So if you're unit fails, you're only two options should be. Either buy a new unit or get a fully remanufactured unit that is is actually an upgrade compared the OEM unit.
