LOL is right. Think people confuse a fast car for a race car. There are plenty of fast cars out there, but very few that feel at home on the racetrack. That being said, these are all awesome cars and most would welcome a test drive of most of these cars let alone outright ownership. Lets be happy with what we've got, I know I am

My S5 was a bone stock 6 speed manual and the best I could get out of it was 13.09@105.5 but it averaged around 13.15@105.... I've only done 3 passes with my stock dct ZCP '11 M3 coupe and the best was 12.43@114.5... The others being 12.47 and 12.51....it's pretty safe to say .65 in the quarter and 9mph in trap speed is a pretty sizeable margin...the Audi was a very well built car that was great to look at but that's where it ended... I can't speak about the S4 because I personally have no seat time in one but from seeing a few run by good drivers I would say 12.95-13.20 at around 108-09
I don't understand how you could think a S4 would only do 12.9-13.0 with a trap speed of 108-109 when you where doing 12.9 with 105 trap , I've owned plenty of AWD cars and I also have at least 500 1/4 mile runs under my belt and I know for a fact that AWD and 109 trap = at least 12.5 . I had an A4 1.8t with gt28rs 23psi , 12.4 109mph and I had an STI stg2 12.5 109mph ! Also it's been proven that the S4 has more hp then a S5 , APR dynoed a stock S4 and it showed more then 300 awhp , that is more like 400hp then 354 like a S5 ! But I give you that , the S5 is boring !

APR just gave out a new tune, uping the anti to stage 2 for the S4...

I was actually closer to 13.1 with a trap of 105 so a trap of 109 at 12.90 makes perfect sense... Especially since awd cars usually have deceiving ETs due to traction out of the hole...Awd cars usually lack something up top due to extra mechanical loss .. Perfect example... My '07 grand Cherokee srt8 vs my friend '07 300 srt8.. Same power.. I would run 13.20@ 105 all day long and he would run 13.30-.50@ 106-7.. But from a 30 mph roll he would walk away from me... It's all about 60ft at the track... I was cutting 1.81s while he was closer to 2.0s that a lot of ground to make up seeing that whatever you gain out of the 60ft is usually doubled down the track...

You can choose to believe what you want but you must be a pretty bad driver to only do 12.9 with a trap as high as 109 , my friend did 13.1 at 101mph in a WRX , I did 13.5 at 98mph with my TT . I've been going to the 1/4 mile track at least 4-5 times every summer for the last 12 years and I've had multiple AWD cars and my friends also and I can tell you ,105-106 and awd is all you need to be in the 12 ! I don't know what 60foot you were putting with your S5 but an S4 can easily do 1.7 , I was doing 1.7 with my 265hp TT , and like you say , .1 on the 60foot is .2 on your 1/4 time !!

i dont know where you keep getting this 12.9 at 105 from but clearly you dont know how to read well..also your friends 13.1 at 101 in a wrx makes perfect sense due to the fact that its a turbo 4 and dies after 90...so you arguing trap speed makes no sense just by saying in an awd car--there are a lot of variables such as displacement, forced induction and many other you can run a 12.5 at 95 mph but the car may top out at 100 due to gearing...im talking about my personal experience with my seat time in cars...you can believe whatever makes your feel better but i usually base my facts in reality. in my S5 i was around 1.90 60fts pushing it 1.88...there are modified S4s that run into the 1.6-.7 60fts but never stock...the best i've seen was 1.85 which makes perfect sense...if you dont believe me check audizines 1/4 mile standing...

ok , 1.9 on the 60 foot , that confirms what i tought , you don't know how to launch a AWD car and that's the reason your 1/4 mile perspective is all fucked up ! When you'll do 1.7 like it's suppose to , your word will be worth something !

And by the way , I prefer to look at my personnal experience then looking at Audizine , it's rarely the people who race a lot that write on the forums. If I was doing 1.7 with my 265hp TT and with my stg2 STI (350hp) and with my 350hp A4 on skinny tires with no lsd , I don't see why an S4 would'nt ! And the fact that you were not able really does'nt mean that others wont be ! Oh and also my friend did a couple of 1.6 with his STI JDM stage2 so 1.9 is far far from being a good launch !

i guess ignorance is bliss..thats really all i have to say considering you have no idea what your talking about..theres really not to much technique to launching awd so unless your clueless theres not much room for error...not to put your stable down but other then your M3 theres really is not a sports car in the group..come back and talk to me when you try to launch anything with over 500 horse and have some success... a TT lol

I don't remember where but before I bought my M3 I was thinking of maybe buying a B8 S4 and I saw a review where they said that they did the 1/4 mile in 12.5 at 108mph and for me that made a lot of sence since I raced one with my 12.5 109mph STI and we were exactly equal , exept for the nose he took when we WOT because of the my turbo lag ! And also there is this guy that pretty much confirm the thing :

well you can say what you want but for me and my friend , when we do 1.9 on the 60foot , it's a shitty launch , seem's like for you it's the best you can do , THAT is funny ! A TT that launch .2 faster then you in your S5 , that is also funny !!

Oh and also , I believe you when you say there's no thechnique to launching awd , well I meen you have no technique !

well what we proved here today is your 12 and your the world record holder for the launching of an audi TT...thanks for the spirited debate but i'm out..your 1.6 is beyond amazing considering keith from apr cut a 1.74 60ft in a stage 3 supercharged S5 that breaks into the 11's

What you really proved here is that any bad driver like you can go on forums like this and do misinformation base on their own lack of skills !

And there's a certain limit at what hp can do for you on a launch , the rest is grip and weight , and a JDM STI is a lot lighter then a S5 !

I did 1.7 with my TT , my friend did 1.6 with his STI in a 12.5 run ! And an other friend was doing regular 1.6 with his STI GT35R 25psi 11.7 121mph ! Like I said before I spended A LOT of time a the 1/4 track with my buddies and your not the first guy I see that don't know how to properly launch an AWD car and like you they tought they knew everything there is to know about launching , but still they were doing shitty launch like you !

at the end of the day there is a lot more concrete data to back up my findings instead of yours...am i saying its impossible no, very unlikely?? absolutely...considering theres a 410 horse tt-rs on youtube running in the 11.70's and cutting 1.9X 60 fts...i guess he cant drive either...so lets agree to disagree...

it's fact not agreement !

you do at your best 1.9 : it does'nt mean shit for others
I did 1.7 with any AWD cars I drove : it means everyone can

and a stock TT-RS can do 12.1 with 340hp so I can belive that a 410hp TT-RS could do a better time with a better launch !

Nop , I'm not the kind of guy that keep my old time slips in case someone would like to see it years later , I do 1/4 mile for fun and as an instrument to see the gain of my performance mods ! Oh , I just remember , I have this page that I've done when I was young !

http://www.dragtimes.com/Audi-A4-Timeslip-9915.html
and just to let you know, I could have probably done better ,cause this was with the stock 15 inch wheels with 205 wide tires , cheap summer tires that came on my 150hp A4 when I bought it !

Hey Chachi , I just spoke to my friend that had the STI GT35R and he told me that he even once did 1.599 on the 60foot , pretty incredible hein !! All that with just street tires and trap of 121mph , not 1000hp , just 500 ! With awd , it's not launch it like you stole it , it's launch it like you want to brake it !
