I still dont think it is. The RS5 is more M3 competitor. Thats its placement in the lineup.

Yeah sure the RS5 is the direct competitor to the M3 but I can't passe the fact that the new S4 is kind of filling the gap that the B7 RS4 has left until when the RS5 and new RS4(not in America) arrives ! Unlike the 335i that will never feel like and hardly be as fast as an M3 , I think the S4 is pretty close in all the departement to the RS5 mostly do to his engine and AWD system !

Like M3Montreal said: And by the way the S4 is VERY impressive on the track... I had no issues passing E9X M3's at Tremblant this past summer with the crappy stock tires.

Just an idea !
