That's how it is on mine too but I've coded the sides out. My angel eyes only show up when the lights are totally off (vertical) and daytime running lights are in fact turned on within Idrive

You have to have the coding changed on the car. You are switching it to the "parking lights" which include the yellow turn signals. You can change the config of the car to leave the yellow lights off when set to parking lights, or any position for that matter.
If it is not dark out, then you can leave it all the way to the left in auto, and enable DRL in idrive. |

Enable daytime running lights in iDrive... then drive car with headlights in the off position. Only angle eyes will come on. Driving car with the switch in the auto mode will give you the same effect while light outside.
