Head light restoration
Hey guys,
My car has 51k and both head lights are lightly pitted from highway driving and I would like to-clean them up. Has anyone had their head lights redone or detailed? Any suggestions? Thanks in advance |

IMO- take it to a professional because it's easy to screw up and make worse.

If you do the wet sanding on them, make sure you install a clear bra on them right after since you will have removed the outer coating on the housing.

If you refinish them, you also remove the UV protection layer. So keep that in mind.
The headlights will be much more prone to fading after that. You could probably even get them clear coated somewhere.

I've detailed my car multiple times.
The pits, like rock chips, are something you have to think about. As mentioned earlier, if you remove the UV coating by wet sanding/polishing, you'll need to do something about protecting the headlights. If you're like me, you will probably just learn to live with some pitting until they get out of control.

No, I would not recommend you touch the windshield. It takes very special tools and skills to polish glass. If the pits are bad enough, just replace the windshield. |

I am a detailer, you can see some of my threads on here for proof, and will be adding this to my arsenal come springtime. You sand away then this product adds UV protection so it won't turn yellow. I know Auto Concierge uses it and he is one of the top people I look up to.

Worked on the OP's lights yesterday, results were about a 90% improvement. Some of the deeper pits are still there, but visibly reduced. Wet sand and then polish. Before:
