Do you always drive in M Mode?

Yes I'm sure this will undoubtedly go to the "Top 10 stupidest Questions" but im curious if people are just leaving the car in M drive all the time or do you drive more conservative and just kick it on for a quick grin..

I've only had my M3 for a month now and this is my first 6MT car so Im a total newb. I have messed around a little bit but still have a ways to go before I can be driving like a douchebag all the time lol. I have noticed that (for me at least) that it takes a little adaptation when moving from regular to M mode in the 6MT. The throttle response is alot quicker so my shifting isnt as smooth - should I just drive in M mode for a few weeks so i get used to it?

Never when the car is cold or when the roads are wet. Otherwise, yes. All the time. You will get used to it. Just keep driving.

Edit: Sameh is right, by answering your question in the affirmative, we still don't know what settings each person is in. So for purposes of clarity, I will share my current M mode settings. Woo, Maan..So many issues in this post..The good thing is you pointed out that you didn't have much time with your M which implies (take it easy on me)..
Issue#1
M mode for driver X is completely different than M mode for driver Y..So pushing M button causes different responses to each driver, in your case it's obvious that you either drive with power button off but your M setting hase it on sport or sportplus..or you drive with power button on but your M setting is on sportplus..that's why your throttle response changes when you push M..So if you don't want that difference just set your M settings to same as non M and you will have the same throttle response all the time.

Issue#2
Driving all the time on M would almost always mean that this driver wants to always be on MDM which is available only under M settings..there are 2 other settings that are available only under M but neither of them would be essential enough to most drivers to warrant constant M mode.

yes i always drive in M mode...the steering feels more stiffer and tighter..i like that...dont know why it just didnt come standard...annoying to have to push the button...ALSO, i want to make sure i use all the features all the time so that if anything goes wrong, it will hopefully happen within the warranty period.

If there are many cars around me, I go in default settings D automatic with just power button and EDC2.

Whenever there are only a few cars around, I always rock M button, which is EDC2, power plus and MDM.

Usually M mode on just for the feel of the steering. I like it tight. In the city I engage M mode, but disengage the power button when there is traffic.

Saying that you drive on M mode is like saying I drink everyday as soon as get off the bed. If you drink water or orange juice it means one thing. If you drink vodka, it means something completely different.

M mode has multiple settings and it is just an easy way to have the car exactly the way you want with literally the push of a button. With that in mind, there is no reason not to "drive on M mode" all the time. However, if you meant to ask if people have M mode on and set for aggressive driving all the time, than my answer is yes, I do.

I don't have MDrive, but if I did I would probably hit the M button at startup everytime, yes. However, this would basically only buy me the ability to enable S5 Drivelogic mode with a single button click instead of two clicks on the Drivelogic switch. However, I suspect I would then subsequently be hitting the DSC button on most occasions to switch out of MDM mode (you can't set the M button to DSC ON for a car with no IDrive). So overall it wouldn't save me much. So maybe I wouldn't use it at startup after all. Actually, you know what, I still probably would since my Drivelogic switch is beginning to wear out from so much use (it sticks now), so I'd probably use the M button sometimes just to keep the wear on that switch down. Also, I'd probably want Servotronic sport if I had it, and that can only be enabled via the M button. Who knows, I might even use Sport+ Power, but I really doubt it.

Like another poster said this depends on your settings you have for the m mode. I always use it but have suspension on comfort, steering servo to sport, dsc in m dynamic and power to normal. If I want to dial up the intensity of the car I use the power button and adjust the edc seperate. The one setting I always want for m mode is the m dynamic for the dsc as full on is too intrusive for any sliding action.

The main reason I do not drive in M mode 100% of the time is because the car adjusts to the style of driving under M mode. so if your in traffic or just cruising the car becomes less responsive than if you push M mode and redlining it the entire time. My current Set up.

Non M-Mode:
power on sport
comfort or Adaptive EDC depending.
DSC off

M-Mode:
Power on sport
EDC Fully engaged(sport)
DSC OFF
Steering Sport

The reason I choose not to use sport plus in acceleration is because I like to keep the feel the same at all times in throttle sensitivity, allowing you to become more comftorable with matching DS revs, and overall feel of the car under power. DSC always off MDM is nice but slows you down as soon as you break traction.

Instead of trying to drive it fast, see how smooth you can drive it. Quickness will come over time. Also, the "Top 10 Stupidest Questions" thread is such a terrible thread. Shame on anyone that posts there.

Start vehicle, press "M" button, full M-mode all the time. All M settings maxed out.

"Sometimes" I'll turn of M mode if I have a full cup of soda (in the drink holder) as the stiffer suspension settings tend to "slosh" it about the vehicle.
