First time in limp mode, right? I know you mentioned sluggish shifting before.

I had limp mode happen to me once before at Buttonwillow during late summer early fall I think when it was really hot. In that case though, I didn't have an undertray and was stuck constantly in 3rd gear because I got behind someone that wouldn't give point bys. :/

Car kept going into limp mode in the afternoon. I did manage to get a 2:07.94 lap late in the day, though.

Weird behavior though - once engine temp was that high, the car automatically upshifted all the way to 7th!! That was not a good time. DCT was bogging down too. Need a transmission cooler and an oil cooler
Actually you need a manual transmission swap

Last year it was 100F+ and I did the last two bonus sessions with maybe 2 or 3 other cars on track in a row for about 30-40 minutes just sliding around everywhere. My brand new RS3 turned rock hard and I couldn't get better than a 2:07.

I later found out whomever set up my damn alignment put toe out on the rear - NO FUCKING WONDER IT WAS DRIFTMODE all day. Never going back to that shop again.

I thought you were in drift mode 100% of the time anyway?

Best lap of the weekend, in the best session - 2:07.42:

Had a 2:07.755, and a 2:07.556 lap soon after this one, so it was fairly consistent. Still could improve - just wish it wasn't so damn hot out there! Lol, I wonder how bad it gets in the high summer, let alone in March!!!

Was way too excessive though I was wondering why I couldn't get any grip at all:

I'm thinking maybe some of my gear hunting may have contributed; I would often drop down to 3rd when I could have stayed in 4th - 3rd just feels faster, lol.

I've done CCW once and I'm not sure what I prefer.
I make the drive up to Thunderhill once or twice a year, I know the drive well

I was in the Space Grey E92 M3 running in Orange group.

Man, that's 2.5 hours north of me, must be a terrible, terrible drive from LA area. LOL.

When it got too hot at Chuckwalla to set decent lap times, I decided to practice some car control in all of these long sweepers and turns. I'm not terribly the best at it, I'm still kind of a noob really - but you never get better without practicing. Tried my hardest to stay at least neutral on the throttle, or step into it to keep the drift going.

Had a great time today at MRLS. roastbeef was there with his girlfriend, and it was fun times. Thanks for the hospitality guys! Was great sharing a garage with you.

Best lap was 1:43.758. I kept getting better and better with each session as I got more confidence with DSC off. Wasn't always pretty, had a couple 2 wheel offs - one on the corkscrew and one after Turn 11. I was having a bear of a time with hand positioning, it doesn't feel optimal, and I'm not placing my hands in the correct spot after winding it, which leads to a lot of jerkiness and unsmooth corrections. I tried working on this throughout the day, and I think I saw some improvement.

Oops!

Nice! That gravel can pull you in like quick sand!

Not a fan. Looking good, Alex!
