Why can't I add my car to "My BMW"?

It's been more than 2 weeks since I received my production number, but I still can't add it online. How long does it take?...I've been able to check status via the 1-800 number, but it would be nice to track it online as well.

Online is normally further behind than the phone number.

I'm not sure why BMW even has the Production Number option on the page. Seems the VIN actually does work but I haven't received mine yet. Now that its in transit hopefully my rep will get it to me.

Not sure why BMW would have this program/possibility advertised if it doesn't work. The 800 number does seem to work though with production number. Also if you call during business hours(US) you can speak to a rep that will help chase down details for you if needed.

See if you can get the VIN and try that.

I tried asking for a VIN via 1-800, and the lady said no VIN's until car goes into production...that's when they stamp the VIN number. true?

I don't think so. IIRC it's assigned prior to that.

True. During my recent factory tour, the VIN is stamped just prior to painting. That marks the beginning of individual treatments...

While this is true in regards to the actual VIN being put on the car, the number has been decided on earlier on.

That is what the BMW rep told me.

I can't track mine either... can almost create my VIN based on the "Order Guide Thread" with makeup of VIN, knowing factory code, starts with WBS, tack on prod order number... arghh
