Help!!!
Hello all,
I have been looking for a while for a fun weekend car. I am very interested in owning a 2000-2006 Boxster S or 2000-2004 911. The only issue is I have heard some horror stories regarding IMS bearing failure, which could result in thousands in repair and rebuild. What are your guys' thoughts? Do any of you guys have experience with these cars? Thank you, B |

At the very least, I would get at least a 997.1 instead for the 911 route, or a 987 for the Boxster.
There is a class action suit out right now against Porsche, but at the end of the day if the IMS worries you that much, just get the next generation and sleep well at night. The actual odds of the IMS happening to you is still relatively low. |

Anything that breaks on a Porsche is a nightmare that will cost thousands in repair.
