Driver Survives Huge 336 km/h Crash! [video]

Quote:
As difficult as this huge accident is to watch keep in mind that the driver, Brian Gillespie, has since been discharged from hospital and on the road to recovery. That in itself is a huge testament to the advances in safety equipment in all forms of motorsport. Gillespie, in his extremely tuned Honda Insight (we’re guessing it’s only an Insight body) was travelling at 336 km/h on the El Mirage Dry Lake in California when he lost control of the vehicle. He suffered a collapsed lung and severe bruising. - See more at: http://www.carmagblog.co.za/video/dr....GuXc6MQX.dpuf
How does anybody survive this?! (Thankfully the driver did)

it needed more rear downforce.... but then the added drag wouldn't allow it to get past 200 mph.

Didn't Richard Hammond crash at 300 mph? Safety in racing vehicles has gone a long way.

Wow. You'd think even with his head held firm with the HAN device, the G-Forces would have been brutal enough to kill him. Reminds me of Joey Hand's crash. Hand walked away, too.
