Enjoy our high-rev combustion engines while we still can! My grand-kids (perhaps kids) will probably laugh and be confused when I brag about my V8 M3 to them.

i am now 25 and i seriously think this is the only feasible time in my lifetime to get a car like the m3 with a nice v8.... by the time i turn 35 or 40, i think the price of gas would force me to drive a hybrid or whatever alternative fueled car is available at that time... so enjoy while it lasts guys!

6 months ago, just when we had ordered the car, I was wondering about the fuel consumption etc. Since January (when we got it) I haven't thought about it at all ! The joy of driving, the joy of the sound coming from that beast when you accelerate it on an uphill and the speed.... it is priceless pure joy and I'm willing to cut on almost anything else but not filling up the tank !
We fill it up roughly once a week (+/- 60-65€/week) and the consumption is somewhere between 13 to 17 liters/100 km - depending on how much motorway drive we do etc. The day we sell the car I will, at least, be able to say I enjoyed it every day thoroughly ! ps. Luckily we both got a pay rise in the beginning of the year

Premium in Atlanta is $4.19. The cheapest I've seen is 3.99. Bottom line, I can't afford this car OR the gas. Living vicariously through you all.

if it be $4 per gallon of gas, I will definitely try to live with it.... life's too short not to experience this type of thrill.... I'll leave it to the wifey to be green for me (she drives an 06 prius)... kind of funny actually now that I think about it.... to think I am giving up my 30+ mpg Mini Cooper S for my M3... hah... no brainer there.... Enjoy it.... I mean, I still have to wait for my car.. hoping to get it this week....

18 MPG combined after break in would definitely be great...and as long as one gets 22 MPG or better on the highway, those are great numbers from such an excellent engine...

I know I am in the minority, but I am tired of hearing people complain about gas prices.
Any economic resouce that is being used faster than it is produced and thus will become more scarce over time will go up in price as that happens. Compared to the opressive tax code, gas prices are a minor nuiance.

at least 'everyone' is paying for gas and gas tax. Only a few percent are paying real income tax. I'd gladly swap anyone's fuel bill for my tax bill. |
