Question regarding M-DCT Shift Light...

Hey -

I find my E92 M3’s shift lights are hidden behind my steering wheel which is very irritating when driving on the track.

Anyone done a mod to install LED shift lights on top of the instrument cluster?

PS. I’m also aware of the MPerf steering wheel with LED display but apparently it is only for Manual transmissions...

Thanks in advance for any recommendations or advice!

I have the M Performance steering wheel on my DCT. You just have to wire it properly so it works right with the DCT. I forget if the power goes to cig lighter or something else but thats how you get it to work with the DCT. Oh and its well worth the money for daily duties so if you track often, I strongly suggest it.

Cool.
I have seen it on other M3s with DCTs, I just need to find someone/some shop who has installed it on a DCT M3...so my guy’s shop can talk to the other guy/shop. Or maybe the shop that installed yours. Thoughts? ;-)

Thanks!

I had BMW of Fort Lauderdale do the install and where I purchased from. Well worth having a BMW dealer do it even though they'll be more expensive than an Indy. Brings peace of mind for a pricey purchase

i think another thread has confirmed that it doesn't work perfectly no matter how you wire it, either it will lose the settings, or shift lights doesn't work

Thanks for the feedback everyone.

All I am really looking for is the shift light functionality...

I am 6’1 and my car has BMW M Performance seats mounted on the lowest setting of the seat rails. It would seem that I cannot adjust the steering wheel and column enough to prevent the steering wheel from blocking my view of the shift lights... which results in inefficient shifting based solely on exhaust sound and time-in-gear lol.

Any chance you could post up some pics of your setup with power on?

It is a pricey option ... but wow, from what I’ve seen, it looks great!
