And today I found out why. My ESS intake manifold lifted in the rear of the engine and basically I was running no boost with the penalty of the extra weight.

This will be addressed tomorrow at the Little Speed Shop at The Glen.

I am heading out to WGI tonight, on a trailer, and made an 8am appointment for them to push it back down.
Congrats on finding the issue!

Quick update.
The Little Speed Shop at the Glen took me in at 8am.
Tech has E90 M3 and knew what to do.
By 10am or so the intake manifold was reinstalled and the car was good to go.

It was glorious for 4 laps and I lost the boost.

Did another session and called it a day. The trumpet boots are too old to hold the manifold down.

On Thu ACM will be installing a new boot set and also the tie down kit if easy to install.

I sure hope the car would be ready with both, the rebuilt JRZs and a Supercharge that works. It would be nice to have both motor and suspension working together for a change.

Next week is 3 days at WGI with a Porsche club. I definitely don't want to be limping.

Oh, the quicksand of motorsports. Always something.

Not sure what your tie down kit looks like, but the G-Power kit uses three fairly simple bent sheet metal brackets, 2 in the front and 1 at the rear.
The brackets make sense to me.
That way the hose clamps don't have double duty and can just take care of the sealing chore.
We don't want our plenums getting launched into the hood.

So last year I was driving with broken compression shim in the front and broke rebound shim in the rear.

This year so far I was driving with fixed dampers and broken boost.

This coming week, 5/11 @ NYST, unless I find yet another thing broken or not working would be the first trackday with both power and suspension.

Weather looks perfect.

Then I trailer to WGI for 3 days with a Porsche club.

Feeling good about my M3, I took the John Deer out and went to cut the grass for the first time.

After 5 minutes the blower that suck the grass clipping into the rear bags made a terrible noise. It seized. Took it a part and the bearing was in pieces.

Took it a part and will have to deal with it later.

For a compute person I feel like the physical world is ganging up on me.

Last week at NYST.
Day started with a fast lap on 1:37.65 on the first session
Weather was perfect.
Tires were 200tw, RE-71R front and VT720 on the rear. Sizes 265/35/19 and 305/30/19

On the second session the driver side SPL LCA bolt snapped at T-12 and that was it for the day. I was lucky to have my friend's trailer.

Called ACM, shipped SPL LCA over night.
On Thu drove to NJ and ACM was able to install the new arm from underneath the trailer so we can drive the car off the trailer and finish the job on the lift. Luckily the trailer does not have solid floor.

From now on we are going to change the bolt proactively every winter. But if you guys want to stay on stock control arms, this is understandable. Please note the arm was fine coming off the track. But during the maneuvering to get the car on the trailer the other side broke.

After NYST drama, three glorious days at Watkins Glen International with PCA Potomac.

Many thanks go to SYT_Shadow for coming a long for the first session of the third day. His suggestions made sense and I continued to practice the suggestions the reminder of the day.

The video is three laps strung together.
First lap was my best time for the weekend on day 2. The other two laps were on the third day with SYT.

The first lap the microphone did not work, but it was fixed.

The second lap some corrective steering at the boot and T-8

The third lap smooth, short shifting to manage temperature and a slow Porsche to get around.

At WGI it goes from dry to cloud burst very quickly
Given the forecast for the last two sessions of the day, I mounted sticker MPSS 285/30/19 front and 295/30/19 rear to deal with wet session.

We waited for heavy rain to pass and headed out to still wet but a drying track. Still this small but black heavy looking clouds linger and dump rain in a very localized fashion.

I have heard that the boot area is notorious for localized rain. And indeed this was my experience. While the rest of the track was drying out. This happens. It was not a surprise. I expected it. It starts with few big fat drops. And then someone above just threw down a bucket of water.

Personal Best at PMP 1:48.08

Tires:
Front 265/35/19 RE-71R just before cords
Rear 305/30/19 V720 getting old but not on the wear bar yet

Weather was good.
Unfortunately, while I had space, almost any lap I ran into someone eventually.
Many laps on 1:50, 1:49, and two laps on 1:48.

Two clear laps on 1:48.x
First one is second session
Second lap is last session

Second lap in the video is my PB

Heading out to PMP again today.
The only change is the front.
I mounted new 285/30/19 MPSS.
I wonder what the difference will be from the 265/35/19 RE-71R.

I am also bringing the RE-71R since not corded yet and close to slicks they might have a session or two left in them. And very possible they might be the fastest lap in those because almost slicks.

Well….
MPSS is no RE-71R even when 20mm wider.

After running the morning session with the 285/30/19 MPSS, I missed the RE too much. For the afternoon session I swapped the old bold heat cycled RE-71R back on for the afternoon sessions.

While I did not set any new PBs, I was on 1:49 pace which was good enough on a hot day.

I finished the day not quite on the cords, but close enough.

Took DoubleYellow for a ride along. Enjoyed the conversation and the exchange of ideas. It is very nice to meet forum members at trackday and share the passion in real life rather than virtual.

A good compound tire trumps width almost every single time. From what I've experience and generally observed a really good tire in a more narrow size will almost always outperform something wider that's a crappier tire even if it's 20-30-40mm wider.

My observation as well.
With a 235/35/19 RR on the front I was close to my best time at NYST on the first few sessions.

But a smaller tire does not last as long as a bigger tire. Not that a 265/35/19 is a small tire.

After some many front tires I have settled on two front sizes. 265/35/19 and 285/30/19.

I gave up the idea of used tires from eBay, so gojng forward I am searching TR for 265/35/19 or 285/30/19 on sale.

One exception is searching for Advan 052A 255/35/19. If this goes on sale I will consider it.

For a full price tire, if I am in a pinch, I am getting the RT660 265/35/19.

If my curiosity becomes uncontrollable, will get the Force 265/35/19

For now I am staying with 200tw until Bartledoo says I am a good driver.
