Can I get Pulled over for having a radar detector?

I read from a bunch of websites that Radar detectors are legal in New York, but My friend said I can get pulled over if they see it on my windshield, and maybe confiscate it. i just bought a Passport 9500xi and hell no I'm not letting some asswipe cop take it from me. What do you guys think?

I've been getting so much unnecessary attention from Cops just because It's an M. got pulled over the other day just to check my license and registration and the dam pig kept on asking me what my plate means.. What an asshole I hate that shit. F***ing leave me alone.

Illegal in Virginia and Washington DC.

IMHO - Let's keep the opinions of our officers out of this to lessen forum drama. Radar detectors are used as a tool, not a free pass to speed.

I think the only state that has a law about suction cup stuff on your windshield in California.

By the way, what does your plate say that a cop would ask you about it? Is it the same as you handle?

Radar detectors are not allowed in DC, VA and military bases. If they see it they will stop you. Install it as stealthily as you can or so that you can easily reach and take it down or turn it off. In VA (don't know about DC) they use radar-detector-detectors. The Bel STI and the latest Escort 9500s cannot be detected by this unit, but all the other radar detectors (including the Valentine1) can. Good luck.
