The shifting is smoother espacially between 2nd and 3rd and the car revs more freely. I think there is a bit of loss in torque on high end but might be placebo, if anyone can add the technical inputs it would be appreciated to make a decision if even a lighter one is really needed.

Links to Realoem since its not shown straight away in the list

Some pics where you can the plate that was removed by bmw.
Maybe this updated flywheel was introduced to the LCI E9x M3s? Good to hear you felt a difference with only a couple kgs lighter, cost per kg i think it would be worth it.

Wait, so the 08-09 flywheel is lighter than the newer 09-13 flywheel?

Currently debating if i should install my Dinan ITBs, RK Tune, test pipes and e85 or do weight reduction with carbon driveshaft/lw flywheel. I feel like weight reduction will be the way to go though

Will this affect the torque a lot being so light? And has it been tested as of yet?

Yeah, necroposting in this thread to see if anything ever came of this and if the engines need to be retuned or have their idle set differently to accommodate a light weight flywheel.

I know that motorsports engines have to idle higher because of less engine inertia. F1 idles at 4,000.

Bumping this up.

I am talking to this shop. Group buy is a possibility. Price point is interesting.

Is there still interest?

So my e92 m3 is a 2010 car. Does it have the lighter flywheel.
It seems like both flywheels fit all models years.

Chatter, for sure - like a bucket of bolts. Will rev up much faster, easier rev matches.

It it's a daily or a cruiser I wouldn't do it. If it's a clubsport car; it adds theatre!

991 R came with it stock, I'd highly recommend videos.

For a full out track car or if you don't care about noises, then sure you'll get a slight improvement. I'm more interested on those set of Cams in the pic. Now that is a mod I might do.
^This

Even with the DM stock E92 flyweel, I get some gear chatter at idle. I could only imagine the racket the 6MT would make with a SMLWFW.

The light weight flywheel can also make the car easier to stall due to the lower rotating mass, especially if paired with a race clutch that is really grabby.

But for a race car? Hard yes!
