Anyone tested RB Performance Rotors?

http://www.racingbrake.com/Two-piece...-M3-p/2161.htm

Came across these and they are a OEM option for Rotors. Has anyone tested/run these discs? Any installation, operating issues with OEM brakes?

BimmerRob08,

I have used them on 335i with great results. They hold up much better than both stock & DBA 5000 series (slotted) rotors.
As for the heavier BMW E9X M3, I have just put an order for a set of front and rear RacingBrakes (Open-Slot) rotors. I will be able to give my review once i receive, install and test them.

They make GREAT stuff. Track junkies use them all the time on BimmerForums.
I was in contact with them years ago about making a BBK for our car. I guess they got as far as the rotors.

Cool, please let us know for sure. I'd also be curious how much weight savings over the OEM rotors if any.

My M3 doesn't need anything more than the stock setup as it's only street driven, but I definitely wouldn't mind some performance increase. Problem is these are almost twice as expensive as the OEM rotors.

Thanks for the inputs fella's. I'm on the fence about going with these rotors so glad to hear positive inputs from users.

Cheers,
RB

Keep in mind, these maybe more money up front, but they may last a lot longer than OE rotors, which are designed to be replaced with the pads. And when it's time to replace them, you only replace the rings and maybe the mounting hardware.

Found the replacement rotor kit that includes the hardware.

I loved mine and I never had any problems with their rotors and/or 4pot caliper kit.

RB
As long as you are using them for street, autocross and very light track day you are okay.

We don't recommend them for medium to heavy track use and with track pads due to the possibility of rotor cracking.

I am bumping this old thread, because i want some feedback from e9x m3 owners that have used them on the track.
These rotors are slotted and save 4.7 pounds per each front rotor which is a big deal.
I have used RB rotors on my 135i for 2 seasons and they are great. But that car is about 300 pounds lighter.
There were some negative reviews in the past, and Harold in the post above does not recommend them for track use
Would be interested to hear m3 owners opinion

I've put about 3k miles on mine and never had any problems, so I'd give them another go if I had another car.

HP Autosport sells PFC DD rotors and doesn't sell RB...

So take their post with an appropriate level of skepticism.

Throughout the years I've read enough negative reviews of these people as to steer clear from them

At this point it would take a lot to convince me.

The problem for me is that pfc only builds the fronts in DD. So for the rears we're stuck with the oem rotor

HPA used to sell RB rotors and calipers so Harold's comments are based on actual experience with RB.

I've got a pretty good deal on nearly-new rotors, so I'm going to try them. Not a lot invested.

No need to trust the calipers.

I used a set of RB rotors and pads on an AMG car and while I didn't track the %^&* out of it, they did perform well under difficult conditions.

Design and metallurgy change between those days and now can make these rotors better. Perhaps all the teething pains are gone.

Edit: these are in stock there was a website issue which is fixed now. Imma jump in for rears and post a review. Sensor is about to come on in back.

Their website says they're NLA for E92 M3, at least the rears do when you try to add to cart:

http://www.racingbrake.com/Two-piece...-M3-p/2162.htm

I sent a message to inquire further will post up when I hear back

Ordered my set of rears 4/6 arrived today from Anaheim

They are brake rotors. Black anodized hat and zinc coated friction ring. Will post pics when I get a chance. Some neato details.

No weights vs my ecs or stock rotors yet, but I do have one of those Bendix $45 rear one piece rotors right now and these weigh 7.5lb less :eep: these are 2mm thicker than stock and come with pads. They are also approximately $1000 more than a set of the bendix one piece rotors, heh

But only 400 more than oem replacement when you factor in the included pads. And based on y scales, about 4lb lighter per side than stock, not a bad weight to dollar ratio

Edit: 54 vanes vs stock 30 and ECS 36. Typical ballpark of vane count for a BBK rotor. Measured just over 26mm thick vs just under 24 for the Bendix new rotor. Sorry I don’t have a new factory rotor to compare. The RB is literally an order of magnitude more expensive than the Bendix, but fancy parts need fancy wallets.

I also got my F80 RB set today. I didn't count on the 2mm extra thickness the RB have over stock F80, so I may have problems when everything goes on the car with my Brembos.

I didnt get the zinc coating, but no big difference.
