Bumping this - any more feedback on the RE resonated pipes?
I like things on the quieter side (a little more volume, primarily at higher RPM/WOT, would be okay), with zero drone and minimal rasp. Given this, I think I will be keeping the OEM muffler. But I want the power/tq of going stage 2, so I am thinking of adding these resonated pipes to an otherwise stock system. |

Oh really? I'm wondering if the exhaust mod makes that much of a difference since we have the same setup basically. Mine pops like crazy lol. The higher the RPM the more pops I get. Usually have to be over around 3.5k rpm to get any pops and also have to modulate the throttle slightly to get it to start. Quote:

I'm about to pull the trigger on these resonated test pipes... any last considerations before doing it? I already have a stage 1 Alpine tune.. so easy to change the map. One thing which has held me back is chopping up the stock x pipe, but hopefully it's easy enough to go back to stock for emissions in 4 months.. (I have 2 pipe OEM mod, but eventually want the Corsa)

Best option is to get another stock x-Pipe for smog.

Just got these installed today, paired with my OEM mod (2 pipe method). Love the sound and performance thus far. Way better than I expected... zero drone, and it has a good higher pitch, clean noise when on the throttle.

That's very odd unless the stock pipe wasn't cut far enough downstream and the TP's are pushing the XPipe downwards?...

I am so confused right now haha, seems like what I want with my m3 is impossible to get (almost every post about removing the Cats for track pipes is like "It's a bit louder but not really at idle-4k rpm"). I want the car to be louder from idle to 4k rpm but have a deep rumble and no high pitched noise, like at all... its a V8 it should be deep and should rumble. I've always been a small block Chevy guy but this thing is everything I want in a daily EXCEPT that I can't hear the damn thing below 4k rpm if the radio or air is on even with the roof and windows down (that's pretty depressing for an over 400hp V8 Sports car if you ask me) I didn't buy this thing because it was so amazingly... quiet? What do you guys think is the best option for that?

Quiet ? Sheet, I’m running no cats at all (primary’s & secondary’s) no resonators just the Remus Race mufflers and thats it. This thing is loud, yes its a little quiet when just cruising but when you step on it a little bit and specially if you’re on sport plus its stupid racecar like loud.

If you just push your foot down harder and faster in normal mode = sport plus.

Sounds virtually identical to my non-resonated TPs with ACM mod.

Sounds pretty sweet in the video above. I have the 4 pipe method, and am considering resonated test pipes (keeping secondary cats and oem resonator).
Is the volume easy to contr with the throttle at any rpm? Ie during regular city driving, if I'm gentle on the throttle, is it fairly tame? |
