Remove Snap In Cradle/Adapter Help
I have a 2011 e92 M3, and i have been trying to remove my phone cradle and i cant seem to remove it. I was able to disconnect the 2 wires under the e-brake, but there is a 3rd wire that is going towards the rear of the car and i cant figure out how to disconnect it. I even took off my rear vent since the f30's have their connection there, but i didnt see anything.
the other posts show DIY which only have the 2 wires under the ebrake. I have searched and googled and none of them show how to remove the 3rd wire. Can you guys please help me? |

Ghetto solution
Ive been searching for a solution for this for quite a while now with no luck. Its been really annoying me since all of the solutions on youtube or forum only has two wires, NO ONE knows what the hell this third wire is for, ect.
Ive heard some stories of people just cutting the third wire and it was fine but I didnt want to take that chance since again, I have no idea what it does. That being said. This is what I did. Full disclosure here: this is not a graceful method by all means and if you have any desire to salvage any money for that cradle or keep it around just in case you want to re-attach it, this method is not for you. The third wire was attached to the chip that is essentially the pin. So my solution without cutting the wire was to just destroy the plastic frame surrounding the chip. All that is left is the wire attached to the chip. I pushed it back in, and then opened the e brake cover and then cable tied it to the side so it doesnt get under the e brake or shake around. Hope this helps. Side note : And if anyone actually has a legit solution to this third wire or know what the hell it does please let us know. |

Holy cow you wasted that snap in adapter! You are supposed to unplug the wiring harness first by the e-brake and the whole adapter plate along with 12-18" of harness comes out. Why are you removing the snapin plate anyway?
