RB's on Thursday, track day on Saturday!

I finally did the rod bearings on my '12 E92, at 92,300 miles. They are the original bearings, I've owned the car since 40,000 miles and have done oil changes every 5k or 5-6 track days when I was tracking it a lot.

Picked it up from the shop Friday morning, drove from PDX to Shelton and did the Turn 2 day at the Ridge yesterday. Finally have the piece of mind to not worry about them anymore

I've been using Total Quartz Racing oil, Blackstone showed no issues and here's what they looked like. Car has seen about 25-30 track days since 2014, mostly in 2014/2015 until I got the track car built.

How did you like the new track surface (/curb layout), after it dried?

That's because changing it every 3 track days IS crazy. You are pouring out perfectly good oil.

It was my first time driving The Ridge at speed, so I don't have much to compare it against. I will say it was *very* grippy, even in full wet conditions. I had a bit of a tank slapper into T1 as there was a lot of standing water and a pretty high side wind happening, but kept it mostly straight.

I ran a 2:12 in full wet conditions, 2:06 in the damp and 1:55.1 in the dry in the afternoon. All on Continental DW Extreme Contacts.

Other folks said the new surface seems about 2-3 seconds quicker than the old surface.

Yea I only ran it once in december after the repave and found 2.5 with just a rear spring rate change and potentially not the best condition tires so it's definitely much faster. The surface actually felt less grippy to me that day though (maybe it needed some breaking in and/or tire difference), but the new curbing effectively widened the track and opened the lines a ton in some places. The surface was much smoother and more playful though which was very enjoyable.

Figured it would be a bit more slippery in the wet given how abrasive it was before.

Dparm; I know you've been one of the outspoken guys on my oil analysis thread - specifically with TBN.

FWIW; all my 3 day samples I've sent to BLKstone have always come back as - "could have left in longer." Unsure where I remember getting the 3day rule from.

Current oils got 3 days on it - have 2 coming up this weekend. Lets see where 5 total nets out at.

I would do a quick change after having internal engine work done (~500 miles) -- need to clear out any assembly chemicals and break-in particulate, but otherwise I think you can push it way beyond 3 days. That 3 day rule doesn't appear to be grounded in reality.

Bmw e9x Track day meet at the ridge?

Once the border opens, i think we can do even a cruise meet?
