Toronto Canada International Auto-Show 2012 Some Photos

I went to the Toronto Auto-Show yesterday. The weather was just right so I made the 418 KM (260 Mile) roundtrip. It is always a nice outing, this was my second trip to this auto show (I went last year). Next year I think I will take in the Chicago or Detroit show for a change.

Anyway, the pictures are self explanatory except for the following comments:-

Should you ever go, just set your GPS to Toronto, it will find the CN Tower and you can park your car and walk to the show you cannot miss it.

There are plenty of benches to take a rest I found one at the end of my 4 hour walk around the place to rest my tired feet . Traffic in Toronto is always quite heavy so I found an opportunity to take a picture on the way in and out of Toronto. The weather turned in the late afternoon so it was time to leave.

I will later optimize and add additional (non BMW photos) of some other fine cars to this tread in Post Number 2. The last Photo is a teaser yes it is the Mercedes C63 Black Series.

Anyway I like to share some of the photos with you, not all of you have time to go. Sorry for the poor iPhone photos, however, I travel very light and my camera gear is quite heavy. Enjoy.

Cheers, Rolf
  • For the best photos check out last years Frankfurt, Germany Auto Show the 2012 one will be in September ===> Right Here

PS. I do invide other Canadian Members of this Forum to add additional photos to this thread if you happened to go to the show and have additional photos to share with us.

More Photos from the show

I found the time to reduce the size of my photos to post them here ... once again sorry for the poor quality in some of them for they have been taken with my iPhone (my camera equipment is just too heavy to log around at a show like this).

Some additional commentary to go with the photographs ....
  • The Canadian price list of the BMW 328i Luxury ... I took a photo of it (price will be higher in Canada then the US. Inside the car looked very cool.
  • The Mercedes booth had nice cars as well primarily the ones of interest to me were the E350 4MATIC, the C63 Black Series and the 550 SL ... one of them babes will be my choice once my wife and I decide to go to only one car. Mercedes also put up some of there wheels (they must have been watching as BMW put up there fine display of wheels ).
  • The Similar to the RedBull this Honda sports car racer was also a attention getter, naturally I had to take some pictures
  • The white Dodge and the red Lexus are not my cup of tea at all I cannot see how it would be fun to drive this one has an ugly front and the other a ugly rear end
  • Now the Corvette(s) had people crawl all over them. What a fine and timeless automobile. If I ever find a 1959 to 1965 for the right price it will find a home in my garage
  • I guess the TESLAR is a California Roadster originally released in 2006, it is the only one I saw. Cute little car.
  • Last year the side exhibition at the show was mainly American Muscle Cars from the 60s and 70s this year the TRIUMPH was heavily represented at the show. One of them had the engine exposed ... I wished I did have my camera with me to take better pictures of the engine. What fun it must be to work on them little babes. I don't think I would feel to save driving this around today, the car looks very tinny ... except for on the back roads perhaps on a sunny weekend
  • One of the truck manufactures (I think it was FORD - I stand to be corrected) had cut cross sections of the 2013 planned engine along with cut cross sections of a turbo assembly and one cylinder. I think such examples are cool and educational so my iPhone went to work one more time before I left the show.

All in all it was a good show ...

Thanks for sharing. The Chicago Auto Show was terrible compared to some of these other shows that other countries and States had. I was really disappointed in BMW's display. It looks like you guys had a great set up in Toronto!

Did you notice on the concept car no dials no knobs no iDrive, just the back projected screen ~ properly a touch screen on the passenger (they must have found out how my wife loves to play with all the dials).

We have (at least I have) seen so many wonderful technological changes over the last 50 years ... god knows what the next 50 years will bring. .... bet it will be all cars look similar to this concept car and you be guided along the highway via satellite no more driver participation at all ... I wonder what will happen if the satellite crashes into space scrap and all the cars come to a strand still what a traffic jam that will be.

We are already at the point were the police can locate your stolen car via On-Star slow the car down once surrounded by police and bring the car to a complete standstill ... the fellow at Cadillac talked about it at length ...

Oh well I shall not be around in 50 years ... so I truly enjoy my M3 ... for not too long from now they will say "They don't build them like the used to anymore" and they be so right

Touch screen back projection .... most likely touch screen far from the reach of the driver

I went on Monday. It wasn't bad when we got there in the morning but it became a zoo in the afternoon. It was a Public holiday here in Ontario. Dalton Day (I mean, Family Day).

Anyways, I didn't get to take too many pics because I was busy chasing my 4 year old son around. Pics were taken with my Blackberry so please excuse the poor quality and composition.

Red Bull Racing RB8

Acura NSX Concept

Jaguar Concept

Corvette Stingray Concept

My new Panerai at the Autoshow

The Hot Wheels Camaro and the reason that I didn't take many pics

Other noteworthy cars that I saw include:

Aston Martin One77
MacLaren MP4 12C
Subaru BRZ and Scion FR-S

Sorry I did not take too many photos (primarily only what I so like) ... not at the Mitsubishi booth ... I recall they had nice cars. Perhaps your local dealership will have one.

Sorry as I said above I did not take too many photos ... too many people. I will post the rest of photos shortly in my reserved post Number 2 above as soon as I optimize the size of the photos down from 1.5 MB to 140 KB for posting here.

I like certain cars and then I take photographs. Perhaps your nearest dealer will have the ones you like to see.

Yeah, best to wait until next year, I believe this year should be the commercial vehicle show.

Will it not be both? or is the 2012 one being held in France?

i hope BMW never, ever, ever, makes the car in that first photo (well actually the 7th photo down). That thing is a disaster.
