Performance Spoiler Install Betalink or 3M Double sided tape?
Installing the performance spoiler tomorrow. Trying to decide between beta link or 3m double sided tape. I know Bmw recommends the beta link but is the 3m tape strong enough? Is the beta link permanent?
Thanks for the help

I used the automotive thin 3m red tape... Works great. No need for the permanent beta link glue.

I used beta link on mine, it's permanent which I wanted...the spoiler would break if I tried to pry it off. Messy stuff, be extra careful and take your time. Also have the cleaner handy for quick wipe ups, get it up before it dries. Tape isn't going to be as strong but it will allow you to remove it.

I remember explicitly, that a member here about 7 or 8 months ago had installed the peformance spoiler with double sided tape, only to see it flying off his car in the rear-view mirror, while driving on the freeway.

Yeah, clearly he wasn't a DIY guy. 3m tape holds perfectly fine!

performance spoiler is not a flat surface on the inside, beta link glue is highly recommended. I used the beta link, extremely strong.

I have installed all 3 of mine with betalink. I personally would get nervous with double sided tape. But thats just me.

I just installed mine yesterday with 3M tape; I may still do betalink but more as a means of theft prevention rather than me worried about it coming off on its own. I accidently had a exposed piece of tape on the spoiler grab onto the trunk when I was test fitting it and I had to pull ridiculously hard to get it off, and that was for a very small surface area. With the entire surface area of the underside of the spoiler, I'm pretty confident that it won't fly off by itself.

Beta link here too. Definitely don't want to half-ass it with tape on the autobahn.

FYI, you will have to destroy the spoiler with betalink if you ever decide to remove it. 3M works fine!!!

I used 3M tape 7-8 months ago and have had no issues and I have zero gap on mine. Hopefully you never decide to remove it if you went ahead with the betalink.

OP whatd you end up doing?
Looks like this thread needed a poll. I 3M taped mine. No regrets. Suggestions from experience for taping are just to make sure the area is really clean before applying. And for stronger adhesion, use 3M adhesion promotor.

I'm curious, how much is this betalink and where do you get it?

Went with the beta link. How did betalinkers get the top side to stay down. It seems as if the side farther in on the trunk in the middle of the spoiler will not glue down with the angle of the spoiler? Is this normal?

The OEM spoiler should fit perfectly. Maybe you're slightly misaligned on the edge? Did you tape it down snug and let it dry? I'd get a little betalink in the gap, press it down, clean up the edge, tape it into place and let it dry. I used painter's tape, came off nice and easy.

It is perfectly on the edge just not sticking down on the middle of inner side of the spoiler (closer to the rear window)
I have just checked the alignment again and it seems almost as perfect as it could get.

Installed from the mounting points stated in the instructions but it seems like the inner side is not contacted with the trunk with the glue.

Install mine performance spoiler and splitter that I got from Steve Thomas BMW. Did it with 3M tape and work great. No gap. What can I say, it's OEM quality, fit like a charm.
