F80 M3 Black Trunk Badge vs IND E92 Painted Black Trunk Badge

Does anyone know if the F80 OEM black M3 trunk badge is the same size as the E92 M3 trunk badge?

The OEM F80 badge is only $29 through Tischer while the painted OEM E92 badge is $75 through IND. I'd rather go with the OEM F80 badge through Tischer if the badge is the same size.

I'm pretty sure the size varies just a bit. In any case, they are a completely different part number (both in chrome). You could risk the $29 and see if it works. Sorry can't be of more help.

That's what I thought too. Badge size should be: E46 M3 > F80 M3 > E92 M3

For anyone who is concerned, the guys at Tischer sent me a picture of the stock F80 and E92 trunk emblems.

Does anyone have photos of their E9X M3 with an F80 M3 trunk badge? I am curious to see if the larger F80 badge looks OK on an E9X.

Wasn't sure originally due to large size, but it has grown on me, and I quite like it now.

I personally think the F8X badge looks too large on the E9X. Just doesnt flow right to me. I was on the fence about this decision too, considering that the F8X badge is so much cheaper. In the end, I went with the more expensive iND E9X badge in gloss black. I'm happy with my decision.

I think the larger size also inhibits proper adhesion. The curve of the trunk is concave. Personally, I think the oem badge is too small but because of the angle, that is the largest the badge can be.

I had wondered about that as well and agree that the original badge is a bit on the small side. As for the IND painted badge, I had ordered one but was not satisfied with the paint job, particularly around the tri-color decal on the left side.

Wrong badges are a pet peeve of mine, that and also not putting it in the correct location.

To me it cheapens the car and gives the impression that the car was repainted and the badge just slapped on without a care. Just imo of course.

Here is a photo of an OEM E92 M3 emblem and the BIGGER black M3 emblem from a newer M3.
