DSC light changed for M3's?
BMW's DSC light seems to have changed.

It's easy to understand IMO. I think that's good...

I believe it's called DTC on non-M cars and DSC on M-cars.

That kind of sucks. The DSC off light had its place in BMW Enthusiast culture
T-Shirts with the DSC off function etc were very cool and most M cars guys would spot it |

Mines still "old school" and it's a 2011, so must be the decimal models...(2011.5, 2011.75, etc....)

That's dumb, glad mine is the old style
Is this a government mandated thing? Since this is how it is on most other cars too keep people from getting confused or something?

Non-m have DSC and DTC. M has DSC only. Non M can turn DSC off and leave DTC on which is traction control only looking at wheel slippage v. full DSC which is full stability control looking at yaw rates, breaking etc.
M cars has only DSC on which is everything or everything totally off. The M-drive is kind of like DTC in non-m cars as it keeps some of the nanny controls on but is more lenient. Not exactly the same but similar for understanding |

I swear mine is the first one when I turn traction control off (constant on), and when the car is actively slipping, the second displays (only while the dsc is correcting slip)... Now I'm not sure and I will be out of town without my until wednesday, so I can't confirm that behavior...

2011 May production... I have the new style. I kinda like it too.
Then again, I don't have a "look at me" t-shirt either. No offense... |

The icon that tells you you have to put your foot on the brake to start if you neglect to do that has also changed to a little picture of a foot on a brake pedal. (DCT only). Another change I've noticed with the latest update: When using either my ipod or the hard drive to listen to music, I would always have to go to options to select "random", even if that's how it was left last time I drove the car. Now, it stays that way. A little thing, but definitely an improvement. Last edited by MysticBlue; 10-09-2011 at 10:24 PM.. |
