Go for it. Obviously DIY is way cheaper than paying someone to do a job! Labor rates are over $200 an hour for most shops now so your time may be worth less. The M3 is a $60-70k car, I don't mind spending some money on maintenance.

I did my share of reflector housing to projector HID upgrades back in late 90s and early 00s. Looks cool but very time consuming if you want to do a quality job.

I probably live in one of the most expensive places labor wise and I have yet to see a.$200/hr labor charge outside of a dealership. $125 to $150 usually. Just had a far tougher job - ac compresssor replacement done at $120 / hr.

I am glad for people that pay $2000 for headlight replacements - keeps the small guys in business with those margins but that is just terrible return on investment.

The range is pretty wide for auto shops... It really depends on where you go. In the San Francisco area, where I'm at, you can get anywhere from $62 to $288 an hour for a basic repair on a Chevy based on this survey they did based on 500 shops in the area. This isn't even a specialized job like a headlight retrofit.

I just DIY'd a clear bra install and that saved me a few thousand dollars in labor so I totally get the reason to do so - but that's 2 days of my time gone.

Will these work on an 08 e90? Or does it have to be an LCI car? I am looking on Amazon now (for fastest shipping via Prime) and getting mixed opinions.

All M3 have the same headlight from 08 through 13. e90 non-M3 have a different headlight design.

+1 for the Lux 189 halos. Obviously with the design of the stock halos, it can't be perfect. So I'm really not sure what people are complaining about. Getting rid of the nasty yellow stock light for $200 and a 5 minute install was a no-brainer. You're always going to pay an 'M Tax' on these cars, upgrades and replacement parts are going to be expensive. That's just the nature of the M!

Not the 189 but rather the gold version. It is a nice upgrade from the factory bulbs.

Your issues are with the OEM design, can't fix that without some serious modifications. Opening your lens etc.

I have the lux h8 v3 and think they are totally worth the upgrade over stock. Look at it a few car lengths away and it looks great. No issues.

I've had mine for little over several months and I like them. I maybe somewhat on a skeptical side with similar products sold on ebay or amazon, and I felt the price was well justified by the user reviews.

Had my Lux 160 in for 6.5y now, daily driven. Does big thing vs oem imo. Guessing the stronger (e.g. 180 etc) the bigger the difference between inner/outer ring. Works fine with this older/weaker kit.

I bought a pair of these-installed them and then received a TPMS malfunction light. Come to find out this is a common problem with these angel eyes-has something to due with being on the same frequency as the TPMS sensors.

Oh well
