That is ridiculous. Goood thing you posted that in this section of the forum or the admins might ban you on the f8x forum.
I think <1000 miles is absurd to spring a leak. Hopefully it isn't a widespread issue. |

Mines leaking now too... 42,000km on it. Coming from the mechatronic cover. Now I'm worried the dealer will deny my claim because it's somewhat small so far. I've been in for 4 DCT claims in 3 months of owning the car. Mine used to do all sorts of wacky shit. I'm going in Wednesday... Let's hope they just fix it. |

If it was "seeping" they would. They ended up working with the 3rd party warranty company and replaced all the gaskets (top, side and bottom) along with screws etc. Fingers crossed for you! I followed your other thread on your DCT issues and glad THAT chapter is behind you! It really sucks that the transmission needs to be dropped to replace the side and top seals or most people would just do it themselves and be done with it every XXXX miles. Times like this... 6MT sounds pretty good lol. |

My service advisor is a friend of mine though, so I'm hoping he will push it through. If not I'll just make a giant deal about it and bitch out BMW on local groups. My DCT still does weird shit. When it's cold still and I stop sometimes the car tries to jump forward a bit. This seems seepy, no? It's caked in that nasty grime that appears when oil mixes with dirt after it's been there a while. I sent that exact picture to my SA and he booked me, so I'm assuming BMW will ok it. Original owner 2009 E92 DCT with 53xxx miles now on BMW extended warranty. After reading these leaking DCT threads and gently prodding my dealer to remove the DCT undertray- they found the side and bottom covers leaking. Haven't seen any paperwork yet- but SA said the tech ordered parts to repair bottom, side and top gaskets since they've seen all of these before. To be covered under warranty. Sucks they have to drop the tranny.

Galloping in Where Angels Fear to Trot
My E92 M3 had a slow DCT leak at 50000 km (30K miles), just out of warranty, and because both seals leaked they had to drop transmission so bill was about $2000, with nearly 60% spilt to parts. Initially I was livid, because the DCT oil pan is plastic, but I figured I got to change the transmission oil, which is something I wanted to do anyway, albeit this was a bit earlier than expected. At least I know the DCT fluids are good and I've now put this down as a service item every few years. Meh.
Despite this, and me proactively changing the throttle actuator gears (from a fellow who makes them using delrin and brass in the UK, which ended up being about $1400), the M3 has been cheaper to service than my wife's Benz A170 this year! The Benz which has needed new front brake pads and rotors, an air con service, plus a new exhaust gas system to replace one ten cent $@##! leaky EGR valve because it's embedded in the whole exhaust manifold plastic bit leading from the engine and you can't replace it separately (although there's one you can, this one you can't). Anyhow, my Indy mechanic who looks after a number of m3s and 335 with DCT said the leaky transmission was more common than you'd expect. My tuppence's worth |

$750 for parts (lower pan, fluids, both gaskets, both filters, o-ring, mounts, all new bolts) I did not replace the side pan as it was expensive and its metal so its not like its bad or anything. I had to replace the 2 transmission mounts as they were both completely broken and you wouldn't be able to tell without the transmission out. |

Has anyone here experienced leaks on the seals in question, following a DCT fluid flush whether it is recent or way before? Fluid expands, and if you fill too much or even a bit more than you should it would cause constant seal issues.

I just replaced my DCT pan and two filters on Sunday. I bought the new pan off of eBay for $85 and the filters from Husker were not too expensive but the Pentosin fluid was $28/liter. It was a messy but not particularly difficult job to do. If you aren't doing the side filter then it is really easy. With SimiM3's instructions (thanks SimiM3!) it wasn't that bad to do the side filter with removing the pipes except for getting the big snap ring out with my Harbor Freight snap ring pliers. I thought for sure that it would take 6 liters of DCT-1 fluid because it looked like a lot had leaked but with filling it 3 times and running the car in between and then using the lift to tilt it a bit sideways away from the filler I barely got 5 liters in. I was surprised that when I opened the fill plug before anything else a decent amount came out. I will look this weekend to see if anything is still leaking.

a quick update, I replaced my lower pan, side gasket and 2 high-pressure hoses a year ago @51k miles. after a year 7k miles, one of the pressure hose is slowly dripping at the crimp fitting and there's a tiny amount of weeping from the vertical side gasket. I did use all oem replacement parts, and the tech torqued them to bmw spec, so it seems either bmw has some design/quality control issues or I am just extremely unlucky.
