Curious to hear about affect on cooling on track. That high pressure zone at the base of the windshield likely = air entering the backside of the hood.

I wouldn't have done it. I looked at the fan under the filter and was disappointed by how rusty it was. I'm sure it's on the list of soon to need replacement parts.

I'm goign to be ordering VC's here soon, but don't know if my covers have ever been addressed. I think they're factory VC's so I expect not... But I'm really intimidated by the torquing and timing of it all.

Yes, the steering wheel. The best price I found rn was around $880. In the spring it was $100 cheaper and I should've pulled the trigger then. It seems like the cheapest it was on sale was around $500 but that was many, many years ago

No way, I was intimidated as well. It took a while but I finally found a reputable performance shop in town that did the service.

Looks tidy. And what is the main reason for taking'em away again, induction noise?

Thats why I did it but haven't loved all that is exposed by doing it. Wasn't aware these existed but am going to order a set now that I am!

CamasM3e93 Is the hole on the driver side for the hood sensor? Curious what to do about that as I just installed a factory alarm on my car with nowhere now to mount it.

Helmsman , yeah it’s for increased induction sound. I already gain a lot from the carbon fiber airbox lid and carbon fiber intake elbow, not sure I notice an additive difference with this. But for those without those other mods, it might make a difference.

I taped the hood sensor closed and tucked it away.

DRLane is correct. I've done some research on this and removing the rubber hood seal at the base of the windscreen is a bad idea. That seal is to prevent air from the high pressure zone at the base of the windscreen from pushing into the engine bay. Ppl who have done it have noticed an increase in engine bay and engine temps.

Interesting, just the hood seal or all the plastic crap too?

my awesome friend gave my car a much needed cleaning from top down
and while he had my car, I drove his e46 M3 convertible for a few days
fun to swap

his car is really well sorted and tuned
pulls hard with a much earlier usable power band than the S65

Does a tune fix the lack of power below 4k on the S65? It is pretty much dead at 3k which is weird in a V8. It is fun how the power increases as the rpms do, but people look at you weird at 8k rpm in town.

It absolutely does! I hated my car before I got my BPM stage 2.

I need to just bite the bullet and get a bpm stage 2. Maybe after I get settled in on my xpipe configuration. I’m hanging onto this Dinan stage 2 for no real reason other than the name. Need to have this cold start nonsense turned off.

Test pipes and a tune make the s65 much more enjoyable around town.
