Finally coded out those silly seatbelt extenders after my wife broke a nail reaching for the belt last week.
Added New wiper blades and took a random cell phone picture of her just because…

Rear diff service with about 115K on the odo; 1.3L of Castrol SAF XJ 75-140. I recommend not being cheap and replacing the drain and fill plugs. Also managed to snap a few pics of the dump valves the PO fabbed while he was the BMW guy at Matrix Integrated. Looking forward to dry weather so I can put more miles on. For those wondering, I’m running an Eisenmann Sport muffler.

Returned from a 2400 mile road trip to Vegas on Friday afternoon, 90% of the miles backroads. The additional weight of a passenger and luggage brought out a setup issue with my new coilovers leading to rubbing of the rear tires and intrusive damper noise. I was able to acquire tools at Walmart in Idaho to temporize the problem by moving to track stiffness but the root cause was a too-low setting on the rear springs. A few hours after getting home I was at the track for Track Night in America, holding my own in the middle group. Such an amazing and versatile car.
I’ve taken the opportunity to meet forum members over the last couple months. Can attest that RocketyMan , spammysammich , and kerrit are all cool dudes. Sunday zipped up to Seattle in the e90 sans rear seat and picked up these e90 buckets which have 80k fewer miles than mine. It shows in the condition of the driver seat, especially the foam and the bolster and the transaction will allow me to defer an interior project with an upholstery shop for a few years. Giving them and the rest of the interior the Leatherique treatment while I work on the suspension, alignment, and other bits before the next track day in 2 weeks. 138k miles on the car with most of it supercharged. I get guys who want to baby a special car but I just love using it too much to let it sit. 359s in the background. You garage guys, don’t judge lol. I get 3 cars in my 3 car garage. |

No dye effects from the Leatherique. It mostly restores the outer surface which with most automotive leather is polyurethane. The outcome should look more like it did when it was new otherwise, in terms of finish. I will post an after shot.

I just pulled my rear struts today. After pulling the front struts because of suspension noise, I noticed that they had almost no rebound left (at 50k miles). Decided to order an MCS 1WNR kit from the local shop, and figured I'd pull most of the old suspension before it arrived. Rear struts were just as tired as the front, if not more so. Pulled the EDC module in prep, too. On an off-topic note, just got back from my first trip to Vegas last week, and had to do one of the supercar track drives. They were supposed to have a new R8 V10+, but it had an issue. They offered me a few other cars to drive, or the 1st gen with some extra laps. The R8 was definitely getting a bit tired. That single clutch trans was pretty rough, and it was smoking when I pulled it back into the pits. It was fun and made a pleasant noise, but I found it kind of a boring car. The 992 GT3 was straight up addicting. All the controls felt perfect, it sounded great and I could see spending a lot of time getting faster on it. Now if only they weren't going for $300k... |

Replaced spark plugs with NGK at 30.7k miles. The old ones don't say BMW so not sure if they were replaced once by previous owner or not. Do the OEM ones have the BMW logo as well as NGK?
Car definitely starts up more smoothly than before. Side note, I noted some possible seepage around the area between coils 2-3 on driver's bank. I first thought it was from the valve cover but it seemed like it's the plenum area. What do you guys think? Last edited by Reddevils7; 05-30-2024 at 02:58 AM.. |

Parts stores should be able to to test your alternator. Could be the alternator or the voltage regulator itself. You should also do a current draw test with the car off to see if you have any aftermarket accessories or modules pulling current.

There’s a gasket on the oil separator that fails in the neighborhood. I had similar as you , probably mentioned in this thread hundreds of pages up. After removing the oil separator, I found that the paint on the valve cover was chipped where the gasket was supposed to create a seal. Problem solved with a fresh gasket and a few minutes with a pick to get the entire area under the gasket down to uniform bare magnesium. that allowed the gasket to make a good seal. |

Not sure how long it's been there as this was the first time I removed the plastic black cover on top of the coils |
