Cool I'll keep my eye out. I'll be fixing it up with my buddy in his C63 Black Series. Hopefully we can do some lead follow into the :44's!

The other thing I was going to tell you was to get the rear solid subframe bushings done. It made a world of difference for me in braking stability, especially into 2.

Ya I have that on my radar. Ive had most of the fallline catalogue sitting in my closet for the last year and a half and was going to do it all together. Not as important as the other priorities. I'm planning a trip to LA soon to have Malek@MRF work his magic and overhaul the suspension.

We know you've accumulated a beer stockpile through trading parts. More than happy to help put a dent in it.

Has anyone tried an ester based oil for track days like Motul 10w60 300v Le Mans? https://www.motul.com/us/en-US/produ...le-mans-10w-60

I was looking at the high performance street car Motul 8100 oil after talking with some folks at the track and they said it can reduce on-track oil temps by up to 20 degrees fahrenheit. That being said, I've been researching ester based race oils and the only downsides I see for the Motul 300v is shorter change interval of 3000mi but I change oil out every year, sometimes twice a year so that's not a huge issue. I'm sure running this oil in winter temps would also be an issue.

My last track day was on the Shell Helix/BMW Twin-Power oil and while it was fine, dropping oil temps on track by 20f seems like a good thing to shoot for since I'm going to change out the oil before my next track day anyway(also unsure if the 300v affects engine temperature on track like the 8100) . The OEM oil seems to have a higher burn off rate than the 10w-60 LiquiMoly I got the car with, but I'm not sure that matters a lot.

This is what I run. Is that the oil you're referencing? I haven't noticed any changes in temps. I think some folks have at success with the Redline products

I run either 15w50 300v or Redline which are both ester. No reduction in oil temps.

Yeah, I think that's the oil. Looks like they mention it in the oil comparison thread as well as the temp reduction: https://www.m3post.com/forums/showth...1439688&page=2

Still unsure on the plausibility of oil alone dropping temps that much on track.

I'm not sure any mechanical upgrades (coolers, diverter values) let alone fluid changes that would drop temps by 20°. I'd be weary of any other advice from this folks. 🤔

Yeah, it definitely seemed too good to be true. Temp myths aside, swapping to an ester based oil seems like to have enough track benefits to warrant it. Is there a large difference between running the OEM weight of 10w-60 vs 15w-50?

Running 15w50 per BW recommendation.

"Our top pick is the 15W50 - it has a thinner viscosity and lower pour point than factory BMW 10W60 even with a SAE 15W grade. This lower viscosity when cold means the oil penetrates the bearing surfaces and critical clearances more easily. When hot, the Red Line formula has similar evaporation and better shear resistance than factory oil, despite being graded as a 50 vs. 60. The thinner hot viscosity means less drag (more power) and less friction and heat. The Red Line is just a better formula using better base stock. Red Line also makes a 10W60 but it's a thicker viscosity than any other 10W60 and should only be used in track or very hot climates."

New wing and splitter thanks to OG Shark. The wing is set pretty flat but I did feel it a bit in combination with the new suspension. I need to start a build thread.

E46 S54 here - I've ran Redline 50WT and Motul 300V 15w50. I stopped running the Redline due to increased lead in the reports. Have been running the 300V non stop since, run it for two 3-day weekends, then off to Blackstone, no problems so far.

I've phased out Redline from my car. Didn't like it in the transmission, switched to Ravenol MTF-2. The built diff gets Motul gear comp.

New virtual best of 143.34

Car performed awesome today in the slightly cooler temps at Laguna Seca (mid 60's midday)

It really clicked today to not overdrive the car to be faster. I have some work to do to get down to the Virtual Best.

Ran with Corsa Club for my first time. Smooth event but way too many people and mostly Japanese cars and M2's. Saw 4 Supra crashes. Only did about 40 laps and had 2 sessions cut short. I won't run with them again.
