Had oil and brake fluid changed and drove the damn thing. Reminded myself to drive it more.

Took it bug hunting to Pullman and back. Also learned a valuable lesson. Never try to reseat a crush washer. Just get a new one and torque it down smoothly in one or two motions.

got the car back today, haven't been on track yet. but. the coilovers are unreal. i'm sure part of it is that i had 150k shocks and random lowering springs before, but despite a high spring rate, the car is actually easier to drive around town now. incredibly firm, but also no drama over bumps or other chicago road sh*ttiness. just soaks it up.

also -- no NVH from the CF driveshaft that I could notice, and the car does feel like it engine brakes a bit less now.

going back on track in 2.5 weeks, we'll see how she does!

Swapped out my tired 140k mile steering wheel and peeling trim with a fresh M Performance wheel from FCP Euro.

Also replaced the paddles because the upshift would stick from time to time and jump two gears. Of course had to go with the clicky magnetic ones, and holy cow they’re awesome!

Rounded out the repairs with a new cig lighter socket since the original one decided it didn’t like my iPhone charger. 🙄

Removed my x-pipe, transmission brace, driveshaft, center support, Guibo, and shifter linkage just to get access to the gear selector shaft seal because I have a slow leak there. My gawd that was a lot of work just to replace a $3 seal! Read somewhere online where somebody screwed in a small wood screw into the old seal in order to pull it out with pliers. That shit works wonder! Would have taken me forever with a pick or screwdriver because of limited space. With transmission brace off, the tranny only lowered maybe 2 inches.

After tapping in the new seal, cleaned everything around the area up and decided to install my long awaited Autosolution SSK since I have full access in the tunnel. This is to replace my chassis mounted PSDesign shifter which is awesome but I feel is a bit too agressive for a mostly daily car (going up for sale soon!)

Also bled the clutch via the slave cylinder and flush tranny oil with Redline D4 ATF 😄

Put the OE DCT paddles back in. Had the standard issue aluminum extended paddles in for probably 4 years. I did like their size, but otherwise like the look and feel of the OE paddles and got bored.

Topped off the oil 1/4qt.

Went for a drive.

I agree - I get that comment about my e92 from people all the time who say it looks brand new and are shocked when I tell them how old it is. Such a classic design.

Are you in the LA area by chance? Saw a beautiful space grey e92 w/ competition wheels yesterday afternoon on the 101 south just outside LA. Looked just like yours.

So today, I fitted the freshly powdercoated in Chrome Shadow wheels with Michelin PS4 (non-S, as they are not available here).

Then of course…I couldn’t wait and so I put them on the car.

I will say…it was the best decision going with the 219M…much more nicer ride and copes with the cobblestones here very well. I also love the wheel design much more than the 220M (which I am selling right now).

Went for a Saturday afternoon drive and then gave her a wash. Probably the last drive before I swap out the M3 World exhaust rear section with the Eisenman Sport.

I am never changing my oem paddles. Way too perfect and simple looking just the way I like my interior.

finally replaced the output shaft seal and drained the diff fluid. first time using a 3d printed tool though!

Name: IMG_2609.jpg

The seal driver set I have is a flat plate style which doesn't work with the shape of the output shaft seal, so i 3d printed this guy. PLA, 100% infill worked great to then press the seal in.
