I just watched the first two G1 sessions. The first session had a good amount of Dogbone footage.

Those Cali boys need more tracks with walls. That'll stop the driving at 11/10ths.

So easy out there to risk it all without having to worry about totally wrecking the car in a wall when you've got miles of desert as runoff.

Still think the GTA rules are a bit goofy. You'd need so much more power to 'fairly' compete against some of these unlimited car.. Oh well, as long as you enjoying it that's what really counts. 5th in unlimited class is nothing scoff at anyways.

unlimited means unlimited... there is only so much a good driver can do with hardware limitations. he needs more speed holes.

Even some of the "Limited" cars make some pretty insane HP numbers really...

Yea, they should really let limited run slicks. Then he'd be in limited. "Street" should be the highest class requiring "street" tires imo.

Yeah. Unlimited class I can understand it being anything goes. But some of the cars in limited and street make no sense. Idk. I think the only balanced TT rules are the NASA ones as they actually equalize cars in a given class. These others (GTA, Gridlife) are a joke imo, but I also don't TT so what do I know lol.

As near as I can figure there are no engine limits in limited or street. Feras makes something like 800 hp. Jackie is in low 700's IIRC. That's why NASA TT makes more sense to me. Power to weight with small tweaks for tires, aero and transmission.

The E36 has an LSX motor in it. I believe it's cranking out at least 600hp. That car is a beast. Ryan Castro, who owns Motorsport Hardware, owns the car and has Amir Bentatou drive it.

Amir owns the NSX that dropped a 1:44.7 funk bomb in Street Class. I can't even begin to tell you how ridiculous that is. Amazing. What an accomplishment. He'll be riding high on that one for quite some time. (His NSX weighs around 2300lbs and has a ton of power.)

Lmao I'm with ya man. I don't want to go back to street tires when GTA comes back next year. However, they booked us for April 3rd...in the PNW...so it's probably gonna be wet wet anyways. Us slow car drivers may have a chance in the rain, so I'm not complaining. Maybe they'll let us run some of those Yoko PS4S!

Yea he was 2.7 seconds faster than my pirelli DH scrub lap times at the Ridge...on A052...second day at that track...Fakk we need some roastbeef speed holes.

Yeah, I wish I could run in a lower class on slicks. But nope.

My opinion is this: The truth is, these days my car is not competitive in any of these classes. It's not a traditional time attack machine. I mean c'mon----how many times does Cuban Rodriguez, the announcer on the live stream, have to call my car a grocery getter? So the podium is usually not within my reach and I'm ok with that. The previous two events where I did hit the podium were a complete surprise.

I do this stuff as a personal challenge to put myself in a competitive environment and try to put down my best. Time attack is supposed to be an event where you get open laps in an officially timed setting. Can I put all the pieces together to put down my best? mmmm not this time. Would my best have gotten me anywhere near the podium? haha no. Does that deter me? No.

I guess it all boils down to this: I don't want to be running around on street tires. After all the flights and hotels and upkeep on the car and every other thing that goes into it, I want the car to grip and be as awesome as it can be to drive. So, I dump myself---while rolling my eyes---into Unlimited and run on tires I want to run.

I think you entirely missed Steve's point, and I somewhat agree with him. The guy that can run 10/10ths and put down a fast time on a track with higher consequences will be rewarded. The average dude that pushes way past his limits and can't keep it on the track, oh well, now there's actual consequences if you mess up.

Monaco wouldn't be nearly as exciting and show true driver ability more than the average track on the F1 calendar if every corner had 200ft of runoff like modern tracks. Separates the actual good drivers from the average ones.

But i was hoping jackie ding to repair his supra asap then go for more flyer laps.

And big congrats to you, definitely solid time and best thing is to enjoy the experience.
