I think this is another good example. There are 1, maybe 2 corrections in a corner but smooth and quick on the steering wheel. Balancing the car and, at times, going over the limit and quickly bringing it back in.

What actually happened was that I was so off the line, I think I saw the tail fin of a Malaysian Airlines jet in the distance and was so surprised, I lost focus

I dont see any tree trunks in this video either
![]() I think these guys think that huge rocks are much better than tree trunks as cushions in the botton of the trail. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature...&v=az_Vlgy5dbM |

Fortunately, the bumpy ride jiggled the thumb out of my ass for the rest of the day.
However, this caused some consternation in the pits after the mixed advanced/instructors session...especially when the instructor informed me that he had the right to pass... This was an unacceptable risk of an HPDE. I am at an interesting place with this group, SCDA. I love running with them, but my pace is betwixt Int 2 and Advanced for the run groups. I am always 8/10ths in my M3 DD on RS-3s, which is too slow for a lot of prepped cars in advanced, but several seconds faster than all but a few students in Int2. I dropped to Int2 for the next day, and it was interesting to see how much pace I had picked up by running in advanced.

HPDEs that do not require a point by in the highest group are few...
If you know you want to get into racing than an HPDE group with no points is an opportunity to broaden your 'track awareness', you are forced to pay as much attention to your sides and rear as you do the course, in a non-competitive environment. You will find yourself off line more often and your best lap may not be the fastest lap time. As in you drove the course without great correction while passing and allowing others to pass with no hindrance... it's a different sort of satisfaction. If you are not comfortable yet with a no point group move away from that org for a few track weekends, you may find you appreciate the opportunity later for a non point advanced group. |

SCDA is a point by group...defined passing areas and no passing in corners regardless of group.
I went defensive and opted to go around the outside of the corner to avoid potentially turning in on the mustang with a couple of corvettes right up its ass. The instructor in the mustang was chatted to afterwards.

They think a suspension component broke and lost steering.
