I'll take any unfair advantage I can get.
Seriously though, the best way I've found to get fast as a track is to either follow a quick driver in a similar car or have the quick driver pilot my car as I sit shotgun. Videos and data logging are useful and help you gain a few tenths here and there, but there's nothing like the low-tech methods for gaining whole seconds quickly. |

CheckCaptain ... why no gloves? I this one of Ron's events (RSR)? Also, is there not a way to fit paddles on a removable steering wheel? Great video - Thanks for the inspiration - all hail Spa!! |

My best there recorded with Harry's Lap timer on a TOmTom cradle was 2:00 54. I found the NT 05's slippery for my liking so had all traction controls on.

And your data overlay was displaying downshifts mid-corner when your hands are on the wheel. Does the GT4 only come in 6MT? Anyways - i think with those lap times and performance your ready to step up from those PSCs, no? Last edited by mastek; 01-22-2012 at 07:35 PM.. |

The R-comps do give me an advantage . 2:00 flat is pretty good on street tires . On a dry track, you should really try running with DSC off. You will discover a totally different car . When were you at Tremblant? I did pretty much every HPDE event with the BMW club of Quebec. We might have met on the track... Last edited by CanAutM3; 01-22-2012 at 10:23 PM.. |

Since there is no gear info available on the CAN bus the logger system calculates the actual gear by speed and rev, thats why the indication can be delayed slightly. I am 100% happy with the Cups, also because I need them to go to and from track. |

I was sure you would have transported the car to the track on a trailer. |

Brings back memories. I also ran the "old track" back in the mid-nineties in a modded VW A2 GTI (1920lbs and 188WHP) doing Solo 1 events. My best time was a 2:02.something. I do miss some features of the old track. Especially the hump (turn 9). They lowered it significantly (about 14' if I remember correctly) and you barely feel it anymore (at 1:11 in my vid, you can actually see how they cut in the mountain on both sides of the track). Rumor has it F1s caught air on this turn back in the days. You would get no weight on the tires, then wait, wait, until the car settled and then hard as hell on the brakes for turn 10. That excitement is gone. However, the track is much safer and still very fast and tons of fun. You must come back, would be fun to see you there . Last edited by CanAutM3; 01-26-2012 at 09:32 PM.. |
