*sigh*

Well, break in was going well. Car was pulling well, even with limited revs. Take it on a nice trip today for some hiking, park it up and take the other car for errands. Get back to a small puddle of coolant on the ground. It clearly stopped dripping, so topped it up, looked for any leaks. Took it out for a drive around the block, park it back up. Starts dripping again. Started following the lines, and it's the line connected to the manifold at the back. The most PITA one to reach, as it's setup with the manifold out of the car. It also appears to be on the threaded side of the barbed fitting, which I believe is installed by ESS.

At least it's a slow leak, so I can drive it back to the shop.

Derp.

When I installed my G1 I could not remember if I tightened that hose clamp. Drove me nuts thinking about it and there was now way to get to the clamp bolt as it was in a lame orientation.

Never leaked on me TF. But when I took the plenum off to fix some leaking plenum to TB couplers, I checked the clamp and it was not tight from ESS.

It is possible to orient the clamp so that you can get to it with a looooong extension. Not sure why this would be helpful but I did it anyway.

Removing the plenum with the hoses on is not too bad either. Just flop it upside down onto the passenger side headlight. Use some towels to set it on. Nothing leaks.

Cheers,

After doing an oil change as well as changing both belt tensioners, I parked mine on the street to polish a friends Clown Shoe. This car should be estoril blue but a PO did an engine out paint job to Ferrari yellow.

Turned out really well considering the last owner did not really take care of it at all. DA polishers are magical.

Got my sticker.

Bolted the blower kit back on and changed the oil.

Draining the filter housing and the do88 oil cooler gets 1 full liter of extra oil out of the engine.

Got CarPlay'ed!

Spent entirely too much time, and left behind too much knuckle skin, but got a Mr12Volt unit + rando Amazon backup cam in there. Sounds great, looks great, but I'll need to fiddle with fitment some more. I ended up mounting everyhting behind the glovebox (no idea how people shove all that stuff behind the HU and make it fit), and couldn't get the lower inside bolt to reach so it's probably sticking out by a few mm.

Did you lose any functions?
I've been looking into this for a while and most people mention they lose their M Drivelogic settings etc.

Looks clean btw!

thanks!

i don't think much if anything? i've noticed at this point is that the window auto-up stopped working, which supposedly just needs to be reset after sitting with disconnected battery for a weekend.

i also noticed it complaining about not being in P, even though it was.. but that went away after a drive. I'm assuming all remnants of the battery being disconnected for a couple of days, but we'll see.

Appreciate the tip. The clamps was facing the rear, facing about 30 degrees down. Tried to get at it, but had no luck. Dropped it back off at the shop this morning (followed by an appropriate "Son of a *****!" from the mechanic). Picked it up again this evening, seems to have stopped the leak. They had to lift up the manifold to get at it, but at least it's all done now.

Also got a chance to see what the heat soak was like on the way home. 90 degree ambient, stop and go traffic. Picked it up reading 109F, peaked about 120F on the drive. Honestly, it actually didn't seem far off what my Cayenne does in the same scenario, though that is an extremely hot engine.

Edit: Nope, still fluid on the ground. Have confirmed the ESS installed fitting is weeping

I'm assuming it's some sort of requirement in that country (Sweden?) where the tire cannot stick out more than the physical body of the car so they add that little plastic tab

Some SUVs here in the US have them

Someone correct me if I'm wrong and that is not the purpose of those trim pieces

Drove it into the city for the first day at a new job. Left it parked in the garage then drove it home through some hard rain.

Correct! These are universal stick on pieces and are made of very realistic carbon look material and actually don't look too bad on the car.
