Funny moment of the day for me:
brought my m to OU. Started it up next to this huge truck and set off its alarm

Love it! I was looking into personalized plates the other night, but did not come across any without some lame picture on the left side. Although one of the plates below with "KBUNGA" would be pretty funny. Which template did you chose to not have any photo?

its not installed backwards. if it were, he wouldn't be able to get it in R/1/3/5 as the shift lever would be to far forward. when installing it i noticed that the spherical bearing inserts at the bottom of the lever were to thick for the shift linkage pin to fit through. then at the end there is a retainer clip to hold it all together. the inserts were to thick for the pin to reach all the way through for the clip to hold it together though, even after removing the yellow plastic washer it still didn't fit. i had to sand the insert down for the retainer clip to fit so it would stay together. its possible the yellow plastic clip not being there is causing it to not shift as smooth, which would be a result of poor Quality control on the manufacturing of the SSK spherical bearings (they were easily a 1/4" to thick... on a part where the length is about 1 1/2 inches). regardless, every SSK for every car i have ever driven has never felt as good as stock. remember when you make the linkage shorter, your mechanical leverage is reduced, therefor it requires more effort to put it in gear. so if it "feels" like its harder to put in gear, thats because it is. if it actually WONT go into gear, then something could be wrong with the spherical bearing inserts. other then that unless the lever is falling out of the car theres nothing else left to fail. let me know if you want me to take another look at it nawaaz

none taken, i want the car to work the way its sopposed to as well. when i felt it after installing it, it felt "knotchy" but it didn't feel out of the ordinary. i didn't drive it though, so nawaaz will have to describe the problem more for me to help him further. what is defective on your SSK?
