Hi guys!
I just found out about the existence of Mr12Volt device two days ago, and I am very interested in purchasing this device.

But I have a question to you guys. Maybe you know something about it.

- I have a 5GT F07 with CIC system. And i have rear entertainment system (two monitors for rear passengers). Because it is old CIC system, there is nothing to do with rear screens except watching DVD discs.
But now i'm curious... maybe with the Mr12Volt unit there is possibilities to run CarPlay or Android Auto on a rear screens, because as i remember there is also possibility to access to CD changer from the rear monitors...

I will be very grateful for your advice

Won’t work - the MMI only hijacks from front/main CIC screen.
What use would you have for CarPlay on the passenger screen though?

1 - https://www.evolveautomotive.co.uk/collections/mr12volt

2 - GreenYi from Aliexpress

3 - You will need CD Changer to be coded in if you do not have one.

You are right... I just realised how stupid this idea is.
I just don't know what to do with this rear screens. I like the idea to have a screens on a back, but it looks like there is no quality option with CIC for rear screens except DVD discs.
I tried to connect external devices with RCA cable to the back seats, but the quality is terrible. Much much worse than DVD.

Ok, i have another stupid question. The last one, i promise :-)

Is it possible to install the Mr12Volt on the car, but also install the android screen unit, but use it only as a big screen, but stream the CarPlay through the Me12Volt?
Maybe it sound a bit complicated, but as i know this Android screens can be used to show the original CIC system, but with bigger modern screen.

So i mean use Android screen just because it is big and modern, but use it to stream the picture from the CIC, and at the same time CIC will be streaming picture and sound through the Mr12Volt.
So, in another words, Mr12Volt stream the picture to the CIC, and CIC stream the picture to the Android screen.

Anyone found a solution to that horrible high pitch ringing noise when you start up the car?

If the android screen just takes whatever video signal from the CIC it should work. But not sure it's worth it since the oem CIC screen is pretty high quality.

is everyone in agreement that Mr12Volt is the best Carplay option for 2024? Hard to find solid information on these infotainment upgrade options.

Hugely happy with it, have a load of customers who are too and it's seeming really reliable day to day too.

On forums it’s the squeaky wheels that are participating. The rest are of us with no glaring issues or problems are quietly enjoying the system and not bothering to chime in. Forum bias makes it look like they’re problematic. I doubt they are. They’re a great update for CIC, I have no clue how they are on CCC.

I believe (and somebody please correct me if I'm wrong) that mr12volt the only one that uses the car's MOST/fiber loop.

I have a car with a Kremersino carplay unit (the later version with the DSP which fixed the lack of bass issues) that uses AUX in, and another car with the mr12volt. To my ears they both sound very similar.

My CIC mr12volt unit recently failed... the right audio channel died, and the USB port died. Went through hours of troubleshooting. It was a model P2000-MD, the one prior to the current model that uses the OEM mic.. was 2 years old so it was out of warranty. Ended up just ordering the new model with the OEM mic support.

That's a bummer. I was hoping it would sound better. The BT audio vs AUX on my kremersino with the bass fix favors the BT for clarity and not sounding as muddle.

If that is the case, my current solution of using BT audio + Kremersino ACP will not be replaced.

If anyone thinks AUX in sounds as good as a high quality source via MOST needs to get their hearing checked imo.

That's been my opinion too and my hearing is kinda shot. I could clearly hear the difference between my tune2air and the P2000. Tron Legacy soundtrack was the big eye opener for me.

After having the most recent version of the mr12volt in my car for 5 days now, the OEM mic support is a great improvement over the previous version with the separate mic (which in my opinion wasn't even usable). I'd previously been using airpods for phone calls while in the car, but after installing this latest mr12volt version I'm able to use the OEM mic for calls again which is great. I don't make a ton of calls in the car but the handful of calls I have been on have sounded just fine on both ends. Probably not a big enough reason alone for most people to warrant the time+cost to upgrade, but if buying a new carplay box (or in my case replacing a failed unit) this would be the one to get.

I got it from GORDON.M3, shipped out within a day of ordering and I had it a few days later. Highly recommended!

Question - I know this new box uses the OEM microphone, but are you able to make calls without leaving CarPlay? I have the blue box (uses the m12volt mic) and I need to exit CarPlay and move to standard iDrive when making calls. I'd definitely upgrade if the new box allows for calls to be made within car play, but if it still requires switching back and forth to iDrive, I think it's only a marginal upgrade.

The blue box can make calls through carplay/mr12volt, i.e. without going out to iDrive. I forget the exact setting and it's quite a few pages back. One option is to "forget" the bluetooth connection to bmw.

Some people prefer to exit carplay and make calls thru iDrive since you then are using the oem mic. but i like staying in, as you are trying to do.

I have the version for CCC that uses its own mic, not oem mic, and the calls stay in CarPlay for me.

Mic performance is another issue though lol

could you elaborate? what happens with the MIC during phone calls? how did you remedy this?

TIA

Yes, delete ("forget") the factory BMW bluetooth connection and let carplay handle everything. This allows you to make calls without leaving the carplay interface.
