Future BMW models information

looking at the first page, and as far as G50 is concerned......sad to read that no more L6 for the Mlite versions (Ex M340i/d).
The only L6 will be (maybe) the S58 for M3 at this point??????

You misread. There will be M350.

So the i5 seems to have only two models so far. One is just rear wheel drive (not workable for me in the upper tundra). The other AWD model is a fairly pricy M version.

It seems that over time more AWD (well X Drive) models will be coming out. Any thoughts?

My wife loves her 2018 X5 40i xdrive and I am starting to look at follow on options. I also gather there will be an equivalent to the X5 50e in the five series, correct? Any thoughts on timing for new i5 models and 5 series plug in hybrid models?

So the model for next year will be BMW i5 xDrive40? I gather details are sparse but it looks like similar specs to the i4 equivalent. Any other comments?

Any idea why BMW is dropping the ‘i’ from the model designations for the gas cars? It does sound quite inconsistent (diesel having the ‘d’ designation but none for the gas ones) and sounds very easy for the average joe who doesn’t know much about BMW models to confuse it with the EV models

Are the same but in a different order, one being electric the other being a v8.

Personally I wish they would have gone with e5, e7 etc but hey ho

So I assume that also the M350 will have an hybrid 4 cil. engine.

A 6 pot should be named "40" as of today.

M350 will still be 6 cylinder

i5 uses the exact same motor and battery pack from the i4.
Only exception is the i5 M60 which has about 9.5% more hp vs the i4 M50 (same motor different "tuning"). OP has already posted this information in the first page.

You’re confusing model and engine designation there.

M135 - 1 series 35
M350 - 3 series 50

It’s not a “35” in M350. Just as it is not a “34” in the current M340i.

Very specific question, but nonetheless maybe someone has some info on that. The new electric Mini is built on the platform of Great Wall (same as e.g. the Ora Funky/Good Cat), will the ECUs etc be from BMW? To be more specific, will the drivers assistance systems, i.e. Driving Assistant Professional be the same as UKL, like the U11, or will it use systems from Great Wall?

A) Many reasons why BMW wants to camo an already released car, nothing special about that
B) No, looking at the wheelbase, you can fit about 5,25 wheels between front and rear axle. Now, of course the picture is a bit warped, but assuming those are 20" that works out to 105" wheelbase. Hint: U11 wheelbase is 106", G01 wheelbase is 113" and G45 certainly even bigger.
C) No, just look at the hood length, rear lights, length of rear doors, rear overhang, relative position of rear axle to rear door, size of rear window etc. All consistent with U11 and not at all consistent with G45.

Also, you're probably refering to many of the (wrong) pictures in the G45 thread, but all of those show the X1 M35i.
